Is John Cena In Deadpool 3? Here’s Everything We Know

As 2024 is drawing close, the hype built around Deadpool 3 is getting stronger and stronger. The Suicide Squad star John Cena also rides on the wave, as he recently posted an on-set picture of Deadpool 3 on Instagram, which includes Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman walking together, donning their iconic Deadpool and Wolverine comic-accurate outfits.

The post quickly earned over 300,000 likes on Instagram, with many fans believing that the actor might hinted at something here. Some even suggested that Cena would be included in Deadpool 3, so he posted the picture as a way to promote the film.

So far, the ex-wrestler hasn’t commented anything about the mysterious picture just yet, nor made any confirmation regarding the rumors. However, his silence only further cement fans’ belief that he will appear in the upcoming Deadpool movie. 

However, even if John Cena is going to appear in Deadpool 3, it’s more likely to be a small cameo role rather than a prominent one. The actor still has a role to play in James Gunn’s rebooted DC Universe as the anti-hero Peacemaker. His upcoming schedule is also quite packed, with multiple future projects such as Grand Death Lotto, Coyote vs. Acme, and Argylle.

Though he hasn’t been in the MCU just yet, John Cena is no stranger to the superhero genre, having played Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad (2021) in the DCEU. While the movie received mixed reviews, Cena’s performance as the anti-hero was widely praised by fans, and Warner Bros. decided to follow up with a titular TV Series in 2022.

Cena’s Peacemaker is also rumored to have his own movie in the future. The DCU’s new head, James Gunn, also expressed his desire to keep the actor in his rebooted universe, and that he has plans to develop the character.

Interestingly, Cena isn’t the only celebrity to have been linked with Deadpool 3. The Fox franchise is full of breaking-the-fourth-wall jokes and surprise cameo roles, and the threequel is expected to be no different. Multiple big names like Taylor Swift, Taron Egerton, and Halle Berry are rumored to be in the movie, and funnily enough, the film’s crew doesn’t even try to debunk these rumors either.

When asked about these potential cameo roles, director Shawn Levy didn’t deny them, instead, he even teased multiple cameo possibilities, The director said he felt lucky with the cameo roles in the movie, and that some of the rumors are actually true. Of course, this answer of his only excited fans even more for Deadpool 3.

John Cena began his transition from professional wrestling to Hollywood around the mid-2000s, but his full-fledged pursuit of an acting career gained significant momentum in the 2010s, with more prominent roles in The Reunion (2006) and Trainwreck (2015). 

His popularity as an actor continued to rise exponentially, earning him important roles in blockbuster movies in the late 2010s and early 2020s such as Bumblebee, Playing With Fire, F9: The Fast Saga, and The Suicide Squad. Cena’s acting chops steadily improve over time, and gain praise for his versatility in action and comedy movies.
