Earning an Emmy Award is an honor to any celebrity, and you might want to dress as formally as possible on stage to accept your trophy. But this is Ryan Reynolds we’re talking about. As his documentary series Welcome to Wrexham Season 2 wins 5 different categories at this year’s Emmy, the actor puts on a hilarious display for his winning speech.
In footage posted by Deadpool Updates X account, the 47-year-old actor still donned a suit at the ceremony, of course, but he also put on his iconic Deadpool mask on stage, leaving everyone stunned and gasping for air.

Besides the mask antics, Reynolds also humorously promoted his upcoming Deadpool 3 movie by speaking as if he were the Merc with a Mouth himself. The actor referred to himself as Mr. Lively (since he’s Blake’s husband), and even took a dig at the Oscars, suggesting that they should give Deadpool 3 at least a VFX nomination.
"I also would like to thank FX and Disney for their support, and in exchange, Mr. Lively (Reynolds) promises to not f--k up my next movie. Lastly, the Oscars. You're on notice, motherf--ers. Maybe we can get a token VFX nod next year. The amount of work on Hugh and Ryan's faces alone is at least worth a nom,” said “Deadpool”.

This hilarious speech by Ryan Reynolds is also a subtle reference to the movie Deadpool 3 itself. The Merc with a Mouth is famous for his breaking-the-fourth-wall antics, which sometimes lead him to interact with real-life audiences and mention other franchises’ characters or real-life celebrities
By doing this little skit, Reynolds acted as if Wade Wilson had come alive in the real world and promoted the movie himself, instead of the actor doing it. Of course, the attempt was a success, as Marvel fans went crazy on the Internet after seeing Reynolds’ antics at the ceremony. Some even hailed his skit as one of the best marketing campaigns they’ve ever seen.

Being the only theatrical MCU title in 2024, Deadpool 3 shoulders a huge burden of expectations from Marvel fans. However, the threequel also has the potential to be one of the best MCU movies post-Endgame, and possibly, in the entire saga.
Deadpool 3 is the first-ever MCU title to fully include Fox’s X-Men in the franchise, after Disney’s acquisition in 2019. The iconic Hugh Jackman will return as Logan/Wolverine in the movie, and there have been teases about a spectacular between him and Reynolds’ Wade Wilson.
After Logan’s tragic passing in the titular 2017 movie, Marvel fans can’t contain their happiness to see their favorite mutant return to the big screen, and reprised by Jackman, no less.

Besides Wolverine, Deadpool 3 is also rumored to have other old-school X-Men returns, from Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, Ian McKellen's Magneto, James Marsden’s Cyclops, and even a potential cameo role of Taylor Swift as Dazzler. Jennifer Garner is also confirmed to be in the movie, reprising her role as Elektra from the 2003 Daredevil title.
