6 Ways Deadpool 3 Can Change The Whole MCU For The Better

2023 has been quite an inconsistent year for Marvel Studios. Their films this year have been either sensational masterpieces like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 or Loki Season 2, or, well, She-Hulk-level of disappointments like An-Man 3 or Secret Invasion. Therefore, Marvel fans aren’t too eager about 2024, where there’s only one MCU movie getting released in theaters.
However, if done right, Deadpool 3, the only MCU theatrical title in 2024, has the potential to be one of the best, and it can even change the entire franchise as a whole. Here are 6 ways Deadpool 3 can change the Marvel Cinematic Universe forever, so let’s hear about it.

#1. Deadpool 3 Will Delve Further Into The Concept Of The MCU’s Multiverse

With Loki Season 1 being the pioneer, Marvel Studios has been introducing the Multiverse to the MCU ever since Phase 4, and the concept has been a prominent theme for the franchise ever since. Movies such as Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Ant-Man, and the Wasp: Quantumania, and Loki Season 2 have been diving further and further into the Multiverse.
And of course, Deadpool 3 will be the same. The ending of Deadpool 2 sees the Merc with a Mouth time-traveling to save several important figures, including Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. Therefore, with Deadpool 3, we can expect to see how Wade Wilson and his allies will save the Multiverse from the brink of destruction again, especially after what happens in Loki Season 2’s ending.

#2. Deadpool 3 Will Properly Introduce The X-Men Universe To The MCU

One of the news that got us hyped the most about Deadpool 3, is that it will bring back Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, the most iconic mutant in the Fox’s X-Men franchise. Jackman has been leaving the role since 2017, so seeing the actor reprising it got everyone jubilant.
And, with Deadpool 3 exploring the Multiverse even further, other X-Men could make their way to the MCU as well. Thanks to Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness and The Marvels, Sir Patrick Stewart’s Professor X and Kelsey Grammer’s Hank McCoy have already been included in the MCU. Therefore, it will only be a matter of time before we get to see Storm, Cyclops, or even Jean in the same universe as the Avengers.

#3. Deadpool 3 Could Result In More R-Rated Movies In The MCU

Deadpool 3 is famous for its gory battles and explicit content throughout the franchise, while the MCU is widely known for making their movies somewhat family-friendly. Therefore, many Marvel fans breathe a sigh of relief to hear that the threequel is still R-rated, making it the first R-rated movie ever in Disney’s history.
If the jokes in Deadpool 3 are done right, the movie could pave the way for other mature-themed movies to be in the MCU. In fact, other future titles in the MCU such as the Blade reboot, or the Echo TV series are already TV-MA-rated, allowing the franchise to draw a more mature audience.

#4. Deadpool 3 Could Further Implement Fourth-Wall Breaks Into The MCU

Besides the iconic dirty jokes and mature theme, the Merc with a Mouth is always known for his trademark breaking-the-fourth-wall gigs. This unique type of comedy makes the audience feel like the characters are directly interacting with them, bringing the immersion to a whole other level.
The fourth-wall breaks have been introduced before in the MCU with She-Hulk: Attorney At Law (2022), but the series wasn’t well-received enough. Having Deadpool perform the gig in theaters would send the audience wild, and we can see how these types of jokes can work well with the rest of MCU characters such as Spider-Man or the Guardians of the Galaxy.

#5. Deadpool 3 Could Help Introduce Even More Marvel Heroes To The MCU

Besides the X-Men Universe, Deadpool’s multi-dimensional adventure in the threequel could also see him introduce several other superheroes in Marvel Comics. For example, Jennifer Gardner’s Elektra is already confirmed to be in the movie, so we could see a Ben Affleck version of Daredevil as well.
By the same logic, Fox’s Fantastic Four could also make their way to Earth-616 thanks to Deadpool 3, as Marvel already has plans for a movie with them in 2026. Sony’s Spider-Man and Spider-Verse’s universes could also be merge, arguably in a bigger crossover title like Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027. Of course, these are all but a theory, so take it with a grain of salt.

#6. Deadpool 3 Could Cause An Incursion On Earth-616

The concept of incursion was introduced in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. This phenomenon occurs when “the boundary between two universes erodes and they collide, destroying one or both entirely," as Earth-838’s Reed Richards said.
As Deadpool hops through dimensions in the threequel to save Wolverine and the others, an incursion is bound to happen. And then, we’ll get to see what destructive force the incursion can bring to Earth-616, and how our heroes will team up to save it.
