“I think it’s really cool that they are such well-met characters and that their lives... You can see them in and out of each other’s lives constantly. The comic, it’s the same way. So I think that the franchise and Ryan and the director, they’ve done a really great job of always reinventing that relationship and making it interesting, but maintaining the core thing that keeps them always coming back to each other. So I think there’s a little bit more of that in this film. My work is finished on the film,” said Baccarin.

The introduction of Vanessa into the Deadpool franchise has been a welcome change for many fans, as she helps show a more humane and vulnerable side of the Merc with a Mouth. Vanessa is also witty, smart, and has her own quirky sense of humor that bodes well with Wade’s trademark banters. Her dynamics with Deadpool have always been a joy to watch for Marvel fans.
Therefore, many fans were devastated to learn that Vanessa died in the sequel and was missing for the majority of the film. Many believe the heroine was a victim of unnecessary fridging - a common movie troupe where the female lead dies for the protagonist’s character development. Luckily, Vanessa is resurrected at the end of the film, and will return in the 2024 threequel.

The Marvel community also believes that Vanessa’s return could mean something even bigger for the heroine than being just a supporting character. In Marvel Comics, Vanessa is a mutant, who’s also known as Copycat. Copycat can shapeshift into any person she wants, and can even copy their powers at times. However, she can’t copy other life forms like Mystique.
While the MCU version of Vanessa doesn’t have any superpower, Deadpool 3 could bring Copycat to the franchise by introducing a different variant of Vanessa from the Multiverse. This theory is possible, since Deadpool was seen traveling timelines using Cable’s technology at the end of the sequel.
