Kitten Born With Dwarfism Finds Forever Home At This Animal Clinic

Going to the vet can be stressful for both the animal and the owner, but St. Francis Hospital for Animals may be an exception. It's like a cozy home where stress gives way to excitement, thanks to an unexpected yet beloved staff member—Ozzy, a tiny black cat with a special story.

Ozzy has a condition called osteochondrodysplasia, a type of dwarfism. He was found and brought to the clinic by chance.

Emily, the kind kennel/boarding manager, decided to make Ozzy a part of the clinic family. Now, he gets all the care he needs for free and enjoys his days with his feline buddy, Yellow Cat. Together, they bring a lot of warmth to the clinic.

When he came to the clinic, he had some health issues like parasites and conjunctivitis, but the staff quickly took care of him. As time passed, they noticed Ozzy wasn't growing as expected. After some diagnosis, they found out about his special condition.

“He has a condition called osteochondrodysplasia, which is a form of genetic dwarfism. He also has a few problems, such as short joints, occasional breathing problems because of his bulldog-like face, and the occasional bout of constipation.”

Ozzy's journey to becoming a cherished member of St. Francis Hospital for animals is like a coincidence.

Emily shared, “Ozzy was actually brought into the clinic by a couple who found him in the middle of a street while they were house hunting. They said he was just sitting there meowing, and nobody was around.”

He is now an important part of the clinic. Alongside his buddy Yellow, they welcome the staff every day. In tough times when difficult decisions have to be made, Ozzy brings comfort and joy.

The bond between Ozzy and the clinic's clients goes beyond a regular vet-patient relationship; it shows the healing power of having a furry friend around.

Despite facing challenges because of his unique situation, Ozzy's life is filled with love. He may not lead a typical cat's life, but he enjoys every moment.

“He is a normal cat, though. He enjoys sleeping on his heating pad, playing with his normal-size brother Yellow, and generally just causing mischief. He means everything to us at this clinic,” said Emily.

Ozzy found a forever home here; a small vet clinic has been around for over 15 years. With a doctor as his dad and a caring family of about five moms, including receptionists and technicians, Ozzy gets all the care he needs.

To the clinic's staff, Ozzy is more than just a patient; he's a beloved companion who holds a special place in their hearts. If you like this story, share this article with your family and friends. For more amazing stories about cats, click here!
