Dog Is Blind And Deaf, But He Knows Right Away If His Owner Is Home
Remember Piper? That mischievous dog who faked being hurt just to get some extra treats from his owner? Well, today, we've got another adorable moment from him that we want to share with you.
Piper’s father, Dennis Gerard, recently shared a TikTok video that touched the hearts of viewers across social media platforms. It captured the moment when Piper, his 17-year-old dog, despite being both blind and deaf, could instantly sense that his owner had returned home.
Gerard rescued Piper at the age of two, alongside his brother Radar, who sadly passed away three years ago. Before Gerard could find and rescue them, both dogs had endured malnourishment and abuse. Heartbreakingly, these traumatic experiences left Piper with significant health challenges, rendering him deaf, blind, and afflicted with dementia. These conditions made it exceedingly difficult for him to secure a loving forever home.
In the viral video, Piper is initially seen lying on the floor, nestled in blankets, with the caption reading, "When your 17-year-old blind and deaf dog finally smells [that] you're home from work."

Suddenly, Piper's heartwarming reaction unfolds as he lifts his head, seemingly sensing Gerard's presence. Despite his physical challenges, Piper eagerly makes his way towards Gerard, expressing his excitement through gentle rubs and affectionate licks.
"Now that he is blind and deaf, once he smells me, he will slowly and cautiously head in my direction. As soon as he gets to me, he starts rubbing against me and licking me in an excited way. He wants me to pick him up and hold him right and give him smooches," Gerard said.
