Driver Jolts To A Stop After Hearing Cry For Help Coming From The Engine

Recently, Mary Wolford's family took a long drive from one home to another. The ride seemed ordinary, with no unusual sights or sounds, until they reached their destination.

During a family drive, the car's engine suddenly cut out, and they heard a strange cry. When they opened the hood, they discovered a tiny kitten underneath, looking back at them. It seemed the adventurous feline had been riding with them the entire way. The family was astonished by the unexpected passenger.

“Everyone was shocked that he was alive. He rode probably 20 or 30 miles in there,” Mary Wolford said.

The kitten's rescue became a challenge, especially as they were uncertain about any potential injuries. Determined to rescue him, they reached down to grab him, naming him Raccoon.

After successfully taking him out of the car, Raccoon quickly escaped from their arms and made a getaway.

Wolford shared, “When we got to him under the first car, he ran off and went into another! Thankfully, at that time, he was somewhat easy to reach from under the hood as opposed to under the car or engine.”

When Raccoon was finally coaxed out of his hiding spot under the second car, the family felt a special connection with the kitten.

Soon, they found a crate and brought the little guy into his new home. Raccoon was unsure of his surroundings at first.

“He was scared, hissing, and trying to hide in the corner of the carrier when we got him,” Wolford said. “He was pretty wary of everything for the first several days. We think he was a stray, so while not fully feral, he was pretty apprehensive.”

Despite Raccoon's initial defensiveness, Wolford and her family were determined to make him feel safe and loved. Over time, Raccoon started opening up to his family, and now he has become an integral part of Wolford’s home. They can hardly remember what life was like without him.

“He is doing great,” Wolford said. “It took some time for everyone to get acquainted, but overall, he’s getting along with everyone.”

Raccoon has become an integral part of their household, and even the family dogs have embraced their new feline friend, although the kitten doesn’t exactly feel the same way yet.

Wolford said, “The only hurdle now is the dogs... He has yet to give them a chance. It’s kind of funny to see him fluff up and hiss at my Great Dane, who just wonders what his problem is.”

Now, he has found a forever home.
