Last time, we checked out the finalists, and I'm sure we were all wondering who'd snag the top spot. I mean, these pictures are all champs at bringing out the laughs, but there can only be one winner.

Jason Moore clinched the 2023 top spot with his fantastic shot, "Air Guitar Roo." In the heart of a stunning Aussie wildflower field, a kangaroo strikes a hilarious pose, seemingly practicing guitar. Moore stumbled upon this gem while passing a group of Western Grey Kangaroos feasting in a field of vibrant yellow flowers. With his camera in tow, he couldn't resist capturing the whimsical moment where the kangaroo playfully strummed an imaginary air guitar.

Vittorio Ricci received the Creatures of the Air Award with "Unexpected Plunge," a photo capturing a striated heron ironically tumbling from the sky into the water. Ricci himself described it as "an unusual and almost miserable end to a perfect moment, previously prepared for a successful fishing plunge.”

Creatures Under the Sea Award: Otter Ballerina (Otter Kwek)

The photographer captured a moment of the otter gracefully leaping and reaching for overhanging leaves, resulting in an unexpected Arabesque pose upon landing. The picture was even shown to a ballet teacher, and she hilariously commented that although the otter has natural grace, she might want to have her stomach slightly tucked in. This is exactly the kind of advice one would expect from a ballet teacher, isn’t it?

Affinity Photo 2 People's Choice Award & Junior Award: Dispute (Jacek Stankiewicz)

Jacek Stankiewicz made history by winning both the Junior Award and the Affinity Photo People's Choice Award, a first for the competition. This marked a significant milestone in his career, with Stankiewicz's photo capturing a scene of young greenfinches in Bialowieza Forest. The unique shot portrays what seems like a playful argument between the birds—maybe a mischievous youngster is quarreling with a parent or one reporting its sibling's mischief plays.

Tímea Ambrus secured a win for her photo series featuring a ground squirrel. Describing the moment, Ambrus shared, "The ground squirrel jumped as if he could fly. Unfortunately, he has no wings. To his surprise, he fell back to the ground."
