Woman Shares The Story Behind Her Most Meaningful Tattoo, And People Can't Get Enough Of It

Christy Williams found a lonely farm kitten who needed a home, and she quickly welcomed him into her life. She felt he'd be happier at her home, but she had no idea he'd soon befriend a handcrafted keepsake.

Through the years, the little kitten, named Bug, became more than just a pet—he became a close friend and a source of comfort for Christy during both happy and sad times. So, when Williams faced the heartache of her grandmother Brenda's passing, Bug was there to offer solace through gentle snuggles.

While going through Brenda's belongings, Christy found something unexpected—Ropey, a small braided rope made by her grandmother.

“My grandma, Brenda, actually made Ropey for unknown reasons. After she had passed, we took in her sewing and craft stuff and found Ropey in there,” Williams said.

For a while, Ropey lay untouched in the spare room housing the rest of Grandma Brenda’s things. But this simple rope held a special story when Bug found it.

Williams said, “One day, Bug came out of the room with Ropey in his mouth. Since then, he brings Ropey everywhere with him!”

They immediately became inseparable companions. Bug, with his playful and loving nature, made sure to bring Ropey along on all his adventures.

Williams marveled at their unique connection. “Bug will take Ropey to the litter box, the food bowl, to bed, and to his cat tree. His love for Ropey was instant,” she added.

She was also delighted to witness the orange cat carry around her late grandmother's craft.

To honor the deep bond between Bug, Ropey, and Grandma Brenda, Williams decided to get a tattoo of Ropey as a tribute.

Williams explained, "Ropey is significant to me because he represents unconditional love. Also, he represents my grandma. She was a huge animal lover, and she did everything in her power to care for those around her. She was an angel on earth, and my Ropey tattoo is a reminder of her."

Today, Bug's affectionate attachment to Ropey remains strong.

As the day comes to an end, Bug always drags his favorite companion around the house. Then the pair jumps into Williams’ bed and happily falls asleep.

For Williams, Bug's special connection with Ropey brings comfort and joy. She wishes Grandma Brenda could witness these heartwarming moments; there's a comforting feeling in knowing that her dear relative's memory lives on through Bug's playful actions and the presence of Ropey.

“Grandma’s spirit stays alive with us through the love of Bug and Ropey,” Williams said. “Ropey is family.”
