Will Arnett’s Relationships: Everything About His Story and Dating History
Born on May 4, 1970, in Toronto, Ontario, the Canadian-American actor, voice actor, and comedian Will Arnett is most famous for playing George Oscar “Gob” Bluth II in the Fox/Netflix series Arrested Development (2003–2006, 2013, 2018–2019) and as the titular character in the Netflix series BoJack Horseman (2014–2020).
At 53 years old, Arnett has been married thrice, fathered three children, and been linked to many interesting women over the years. The history of Will Arnett’s relationships is not a long one, but certainly one with variety. While he doesn’t date that many women (that we know of), each of them is talented and a great lady in their own craft. From comedienne to businesswoman, here are the most significant women that were featured in the funnyman Will Arnett’s romantic life so far.
Penelope Ann Miller
The first one of Will Arnett’s past marriages is with actress Penelope Ann Miller, for a brief period between 1994 and 1995. They began dating in November 1994 and married a month later in December 1994. However, their union didn’t last for long; the couple divorced less than a month later in January 1995. Miller has since remarried James Huggins, and they share two children together, Eloisa May and Maria Adela. As an actress, Miller is quite successful in both theater work, TV shows, and the silver screen. She has also worked with many big names in the industry, including Robert De Niro and Al Pacino.
One of the most significant of Will Arnett’s relationships is his ex-wife Amy Poehler. After his first short marriage, Arnett wasn’t linked with anyone romantically… that we know of. In 1996, he met his second wife, comedienne Amy Poehler, while dating his then-girlfriend, when Poehler was performing with the improv troupe Upright Citizens Brigade.
The pair didn’t start dating until 2000, after a friend formally introduced them. They got married on August 29, 2003, after three years together. The couple shared two sons together, Will Arnet's house, once shared with ex-wife Amy Poehler, is on Morton Street, and has since been sold.
Both being comedians, Poehler and Arnett have worked together on many occasions. Both guest starred on their respective TV shows, including one episode of Poehler’s Parks and Recreation and four of Arnett’s Arrested Development. Other notable times they have worked together include Horton Hears a Who!, Monsters vs. Aliens, and siblings-who-kiss in Blades of Glory.
Despite Will Arnett’s family life with Amy Poehler being a loving one, they announced their separation in 2012 after nine years of marriage. Arnett then filed for divorce in 2014 and it was finalized in 2016. Until now, the reason for their divorce was still a secret. Despite numerous rumors of a third person, ranging from Christina Applegate to Megan Fox, both Arnett, and Poehler have cited the reason for their divorce as they simply grew apart.
While the divorce was rough on both parties, with Poehler describing it “sucks,” and Arnett confessing to “crying in his car for hours,” the pair split amicably, and have nothing but kind words for each other. Arnett praised Poehler as a mother in 2021, saying that their kids are "so lucky that Amy is their mother." Poehler wrote in her memoir “Yes, Please,” that she was "beyond grateful" for Arnett’s role as a father and that she didn’t think their marriage was a failure.”
Since their divorce, both Arnett and Poehler have moved on, and been linked to different people, with Poehler dating comedian Nick Kroll from 2013 to 2015 and lawyer Benjamin Graf from 2016 to 2018.
Currently, Will Arnett’s partner is businesswoman and socialite Alessandra Brawn. Detailed information about her background, including her career and education can be found in our blog.
The couple began dating in March 2019, when they were photographed holding hands while on a walk in Venice, California. In September 2019, They made their red carpet debut at the 2019 Creative Arts Emmys together in Los Angeles.
Despite their red carpet appearance, Arnett and Brawn prefer to keep their relationship out of the spotlight and have made very few public appearances since their red carpet debut. They have also not directly discussed their relationship in interviews or on social media. Even paparazzied photos of them are scarce.
Like Arnett, Brawn has previously married. From October 2014 to 2018, she was married to Jon Neidich, a restaurateur and hotelier based in New York City. He and Brawn shared a son named Nash, born in 2016.
In May 2020, Arnett and Brawn welcomed their first child together, a son named Alexander “Denny” Denison. The baby boy is Arnett’s third child and Brawn’s second child. As of 2023, the couple is still going strong! Among Will Arnett’s relationships, this is definitely a long-term one.
