Once appearing on the internet via a lovely photo, Dúi attracted lots of attention and quickly became the Vietnamese’s iconic meme. His images then also spread worldwide, and everyone was charmed by the mischievous moments of Dúi.

“It’s been only 5 days since we created Dúi’s fan page, and it now has more than 40,000 likes. The dog now has loads of fans both in Vietnam and around the world,” shared Hải Anh, Dúi’s owner, in an interview in the past.

Dúi has the face of a dog, but his body is more like a cat's because of his longer, docked tail, pointed ears, and furry gray hair.

This mixed-breed dog is a happy-go-lucky one, and “like every puppy, he likes playing with both humans and dog friends. He is really sweet and funny." Interestingly, Dúi, perhaps, thinks that he is a cat, so he acts as if he were a cat sometimes. And it just couldn’t be more hilarious to witness his hysterical antics.

Is anyone curious about which breed Dúi actually is?

According to Hải Anh, “He is a mix of a native dog breed and a short-legged dog called Dingo. But I think he might have a gene mutation, too, making him look like some sort of corgi mix. I bought him in a mountain province in Vietnam.”

There's also been speculation that it could be a corgi mixed with a local Vietnamese breed known as Hmong. To provide some context, the Hmong dog is a relatively unfamiliar ancient Vietnamese breed. Initially utilized by ethnic communities in the area, these dogs proved exceptional for both hunting and guarding due to their impressive strength and intelligence. Originating from the northern Vietnamese mountains, they are characterized by their endearing docked tails and adorable squishy faces.
