This Sheep Missing 5 Years Ago Found Living With Pack Of Kangaroo
A missing sheep was found living with a mob of kangaroos!
According to this charity, Sugar the sheep escaped from an Australian farm five years ago and was found among kangaroos near Melbourne's Sugarloaf Reservoir. Rescuers plucked Sugar from the reservoir six months after his initial sighting with kangaroo companions.
And then he found refuge at FFAR's Gladysdale Sanctuary in Victoria, Australia. There, the woolly wanderer underwent a thorough check-up and a much-needed makeover, including a shearing session to bid farewell to the thick coat of wool accumulated during his five-year escapade.
A whopping 12.6 kilograms (almost 28 lbs.) of excess fleece bid adieu to the sheep's once-bulky appearance. Witness the heartening video on FFAR's Instagram, where three volunteers join forces to showcase Sugar's newly woven
Georgia Duncan, a water supply operator, narrates the story in a Facebook post from Melbourne Water. According to the company, the rescue was executed thanks to a combined effort between FFAR, Vets For Compassion, and Duncan, who first located the missing creature with the kangaroos.
"In the catchments surrounding our city's reservoirs, wildlife is abundant and diverse, especially on the walking tracks," the post read. "Keep an eye out for wedge-tailed eagles, black-tailed wallabies, echidnas, kangaroos, and an abundance of other wildlife. But Melbourne Water staff were surprised to learn about lost Sugar, far from home."
The collective effort's importance in preserving and protecting animals.
In a Monday news post, Melbourne Water revealed that the team had to "meticulously plan" for Sugar's rescue for weeks.
The successful mission underscored community involvement. This is echoed by Nicole de Haan from Vets for Compassion. "This rescue serves as a reminder of the importance of community involvement in safeguarding and protecting animals in need," he said.
Sugar the sheep's return home, under Duncan's care, awaits after a thorough health check at the sanctuary.
His time among kangaroo companions adds a heartwarming touch to his story, emphasizing the unique bond formed during his journey.
Sugar's incredible journey from an Australian farm to the company of kangaroos and finally finding refuge at Gladysdale Sanctuary is a testament to the power of community and compassion.
