The Marvels’ Major Deleted Scene Revealed & Why It’s Crucial To The Movie

The footage was released by USA Today’s X account on January 8, and it’s around 1-minute long. The scene takes place in the later half of the movie, seeing the trio of Carol Danvers, Kamala Khan, and Monica Rambeau on the planet of Aladna, where Prince Yan, Carol’s husband, resides. After this scene, The Marvels are gifted with brand-new outfits by Aladna royalties. 

As the citizens of Aladna are preparing for the festival, Monica is seen connecting with Taiya from SABER through a communication device and the two have a discussion about jump points.

Meanwhile, Carol warns her husband that Dar-Benn is coming for the oceans of Aladna, and encourages him to get his people to safety, but the latter assures her that it will be fine. Kamala jumps into the conversation, as she’s being measured by Aladna’s designers to create her new costume. 

The teenager then suggests these designers make her scarf whippable like a weapon, and even sings the idea to them, as Aladna citizens communicate through songs and rhythmic sounds. The scene concludes with Kamala asking Monica if she wants a whip scarf as well, as the latter disconnects with the SABER station.

While the deleted sequence is brief and doesn’t feature any major event, it shows us two interesting aspects: more of Carol - Prince Yan’s interactions, and the origin of Kamala’s whippable scarf. Firstly, While they are technically spouses, Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel and Park Seo-Joon’s Yan don’t communicate much in the movie, and this extra little scene helps us dive further into their interactions.

Meanwhile, Kamala’s scarf suggestion scene is also an important sequence that explains why she has the whippable scarf in the first place. The original costume of her didn’t have this cool feature, so having a little explanation here will make much more sense.

Marvel Studios has a tendency to give their superheroes new outfits for every new entry. Iron Man is one thing, as he keeps upgrading his armors, but even characters like Captain America and Thor also have their costume changes frequently. Kamala Khan is no different, as this is already her second attire in her second MCU appearance.

The first Kamala outfit was introduced in Ms.Marvel’s TV series in 2021, as it was made from a collection of objects gifted to her by her mother and friends. However, the suit only appears near the end of the series, and Kamala only wears it briefly in The Marvels before changing to her new outfit.

Therefore, having an explanation of how Kamala gets her new suit to get a power upgrade makes more sense, and it is a good reason for why she left the old one back on Earth.
