N.C. Shelter Finds Forever Home For Rescue Dog-Goat Best Friends Who Need To Stay Together

Cinnamon the goat and Felix the dog are an inseparable pair of friends at Wake County Animal Shelter.
According to a release from the Wake County Government in North Carolina, Cinnamon and Felix came to the shelter on March 13 because of their owner's inability to provide care.
Their connection became evident in every aspect of their lives. It’s very uncommon for dogs and goats to bond like this. “They are best buds and are truly bonded; they even sleep together and have been kept together 24/7 except when they eat,” a Facebook post reads.
The shelter quickly recognized the special bond between them and embarked on a mission to secure a forever home that would embrace both Cinnamon and Felix.
Dr. Jennifer Federico, the director of the Wake County Animal Shelter, emphasized the unusual nature of the bond between Cinnamon and Felix. In a typical scenario, dogs tend to attack goats, making this duo an exceptional case.
“It shows things are possible and they don’t see the difference,” he said.
Cinnamon and Felix were so close that it was clear that they were a bonded pair, and would need to find a new home who could take them both in. While it was a very unusual situation, the shelter was determined to not split them up.
Dr. Federico added, “Whatever the reason for these two bonding, it’s clear what would be best for their well-being is to keep them together.”
Luckily, a solution was found to ensure that Cinnamon and Felix could remain together. The Wake County Animal Shelter shared an update, revealing that a rescue had stepped forward to take in the inseparable duo.
This delightful news means that Cinnamon and Felix, the best of friends, won't have to face the prospect of being separated after their joint rescue. The bond between these unlikely companions will continue to flourish in their new home.
