Pedestrians Spot This Dog Covered In Urine And Fleas—Then Realize She’s Still Alive
Amidst the bustling streets of Brooklyn, a dog clung tenaciously to life. It was discovered collapsed and motionless; the emaciated figure was so emaciated that many bystanders thought she was already dead.
People began posting about the dog, and this resilient creature, later christened Feisty, became the focal point of a collective plea for help. News of Feisty's dire condition resonated across social media channels, reaching the compassionate ears of Second Chance Rescue.
The rescue organization orchestrated Feisty's transfer to an emergency hospital. She was immediately started on antibiotics, fluids, and pain medication. But her rescuers had no idea if she was going to make it.
Rachel Larkin, the director of social media for Second Chance Rescue, described Feisty's pitiable state: "She was in terrible condition: sickly, dehydrated, and malnourished, with clumps of hair missing. She was covered in urine and fleas, and her nails were so overgrown they were embedded into her paw pads."
Besides, her biggest concern was the masses on her body, and rescuers wondered whether they were cancerous or benign.
In the crucible of pain and neglect, Feisty emerged as a testament to the unwavering resilience of the canine spirit. From the instant she was plucked from the sidewalk, this dog radiated a profound sweetness that belied her harrowing ordeal.
Despite the scars etched into her emaciated frame, all Feisty craved was the warmth of love—a commodity foreign to her until that pivotal moment.
Rachel Larkin expressed: "Feisty was pure love from the moment she was found laid out on that sidewalk. When our volunteers went to visit her the morning after she arrived at the hospital, she greeted them with gentle kisses and a happy, albeit hairless, tail that wouldn't quit wagging.”
Her new family fell in love with her instantly—when they found out that she didn’t have cancer after all, they were absolutely over the moon.
“When we got the news that Feisty's biopsy results came back as benign and noncancerous, Feisty was no longer considered hospice. By the next morning, Feisty's foster parents had requested adoption papers. They knew she was already home,” Larkin said.
FeeFee, formerly known as Feisty, has lived a new life filled with joy and warmth that she so rightly deserves. She’s now a happy, healthy senior girl who gets to spend her days lounging around with a family who loves her, and they’re so grateful to have her in their lives.
Ursula Schmidt, FeeFee's mom, shared: "FeeFee, aka Feisty, is coming out of her shell." Schmidt emphasizes FeeFee's eagerness to extend a heartfelt greeting to everyone she meets—a testament to proving that it is very important to her to greet everyone.
In her new life, FeeFee has found her true family. And there could truly be no better happy ending than that. If you like this story, share this article with your family and friends. For more amazing stories about animals, visit AUBTU.BIZ now!
