Orlando Grooming Heroes Rescue Shelter Dog With Severely Matted Fur That Kept Her From Walking

The shelter accepted her late Saturday afternoon and quickly posted a call for help on social media.
They wrote, “We were asked to help a dog with very little background information or details. We were simply asked to help. We asked if this was a backyard breeder dog, and we were told "no,” although we were skeptical because we could see puppies in the background of the photo provided with this girl in an outdoor pen."
“None of that matters now; she’s safe in our care. She’s in rough shape, and we’re looking for a courtesy groom ASAP," they also added.

Then, lots of people stepped up to help when they heard about a dog in need. The rescue team was amazed by the community's response.
Three groomers at As The Tail Wags Grooming and Training in Oviedo, Kristie, Shannon, and Megan, skipped their day off plans to save the day for Loretta.
The groomers meticulously shaved away the tangled coat for nearly three hours.
The shelter shared, “The matting was so severe in some places that Loretta’s skin was tearing, which is why you see some open wounds on her body in the photos, and her back legs appear to be atrophied from the restriction of movement.”

They worked really hard to free Loretta from her tangled fur. Now, this shy pup can walk again, but she needs time to get her strength and leg muscles back. She's chilling at a foster home, getting all the care she deserves.
Then, the shelter posted photos of her makeover and the awesome groomers on the shelter's Instagram to thank the kindhearted women for their help.
The post said, “Loretta’s transformation is a testament to the incredible power of community and compassion. To say this groom was a tough job is a huge understatement, but these incredible women gently worked their magic as if they were Loretta’s personal fairy godmothers, and we could not be more grateful.”
Loretta still has a long road to recovery. A limp in her front leg, underweight struggles, and a pesky case of heartworms are the challenges she faces. But she is off to a great start.
People were impressed by the groomers' compassion and thanked the shelter for rescuing her. They wanted the person who neglected her to be charged.
“You need to write to and contact your local, county, and state authorities. Animal neglect or abuse is rarely prosecuted, and the laws are vague or only deal with the absolute worst cases. Under the law, this is not considered neglect," the shelter shared.

She's in good hands now and has a whole life ahead of her. Once she's all better, she'll be up for adoption.
The heartwarming story of Loretta didn't just touch the lives of those directly involved; it sent a message of compassion through the community. For more amazing stories about animals, visit AUBTU.BIZ now!
