Meet Stache, The Champion Of 2023 National Dog Show
Coming from the quaint town of Honey Brook, Pennsylvania, Stache and his skilled handler, Margery Good of Cochranville, won the highly anticipated Best in Show title at the Kennel Club of Philadelphia-hosted event.
Margery Good, expressing the joy of the victory, shared, "It's an exhilarating feeling to win. Stache deals easily with multiple things happening around him. He's so well-balanced, and he loves to show."
Before securing the spotlight as Best in Show, Stache beat out the fiercely contested Terrier Group, earning the chance to compete in the ultimate showdown alongside six other group winners: M the Chesapeake Bay Retriever from Sporting, Pumpkin the Dalmatian from Non-Sporting, Comet the Shih Tzu from Toy, Carson the Great Dane from Working, Yaro the Azawahk from Hound, and Heathcliff the German Shepherd from Herding.
But the critical eyes of Best in Show judge Carrie Chase finally identified Stache for the top honors and gave the second place (Reserve Best in Show) title to the elegant Pumpkin the Dalmatian.
Carrie Chase, praising Stache, pointed out, "This dog's condition, breed type, and showmanship all come together to produce the epitome of an excellent dog."
In fact, before his National Dog Show triumph, Stache had already earned a prestigious rank as the #2 Terrier and the #12 All-Breed show dog in America. And this latest victory marks his 49th Best in Show prize, an impressive feat celebrated by over 20 million animal lovers who tuned in on Thanksgiving Day.
Following the triumph, Stache's plans include a joyous celebration featuring "a wonderful celebratory dinner" and quality time with his six furry companions.
In a symbolic passing of the crown, Stache took the National Dog Show throne from Winston the French Bulldog, the 2022 winner who made history as the first of his breed to claim the Best in Show prize. And that moment was incredible.
