Alongside Hugh Jackman, James Marsden, and Rebecca Romijn, Kelsey Grammer is one of the most prominent actors in the original Fox X-Men lineup. As Disney finally acquired the rights for the Fox X-Men Universe, Grammar recently made a surprising cameo role in The Marvels’ after credit, reprising his role as Hank McCoy, aka The Beast.
Needless to say, the actor’s unexpected appearance in the film caused the Marvel fandom to be on their feet, as this means that the Fox X-Men Universe is ready to merge into one with the MCU. Grammar recently also addressed his role in The Marvels, while giving us his insight about his future in the MCU as Hank McCoy. Here’s what you need to know.
#1. How Did Marvel Studios Introduce Grammer To The MCU?
In the first post-credit scene of The Marvels, Monica Rambeau, aka Photon, got sent to a different dimension after trying to fix a wormhole caused by the late villain Dar-Benn. As she was floating in space, she was found by an alternate version of Maria Rambeau, her mother. However, this variant of Maria didn’t know who she was.
Afterward, Monica woke up in a medical unit, presumably the X Institute. Hank McCoy/The Beast, was there to greet her, suggesting that Monica had accidentally traveled to the Fox X-Men Universe. Beast also revealed that this version of Maria Rambeau is called Binary, and that Professor X was waiting to meet all of them.
#2. “I’m Delighted Beast Is Back”, Said Kelsey Grammer
Speaking with The Wrap, Kelsey Grammer addressed his unexpected cameo role in The Marvels, while also expressing his desire to come back as The Beast in the MCU. Here’s the actor’s full quote:
“It is my hope that you will [see him again]. I can say with a certain amount of confidence that you will. I would love to. [I was] very pleased [by the response of the recent cameo]. A lot of people got in touch [with him] I’ve always wanted to play him again.”
“I see him as an extraordinary character, a real character of gravitas and importance in our culture. I’m delighted Beast is back and hope he’s back in a real way.” He added.
Judging from Grammer’s response, it seems that the actor still desires to play Hank McCoy for a long time. The actor hasn’t portrayed the role prominently since X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), and only had a small cameo role in X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014), so fans are excited to see him again as the hairy mutant on the big screen.
#3. Why Grammer’s Cameo In The Marvels Is Crucial To The MCU
Grammer’s brief yet important cameo in The Marvels’ post-credit scene could mean something big for the MCU, as it finally introduces the X-Men to this universe. This event also seamlessly sets up Deadpool 3, an MCU movie that will bring us Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, and presumably multiple other X-Men variants.
Therefore, Deadpool 3 is also a good chance for Grammer’s Beast to officially make his return with a bigger role. If not, it’s possible that The Beast will appear in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars in 2026 and 2027. Both of these Movies.are expected to feature multiple variants of each superhero from different dimensions.
Nevertheless, as one of the first Fox X-Men to be in the MCU, Grammar’s Hank McCoy is here to stay, and we can expect him to feature in at least more than once in future MCU movies.
