Hungry Kitten Searches For Food In Family's Yard And Finds A Second Chance in Life

A while back, Ariel Heath noticed four tiny kittens hanging around her place, sipping water like they owned the joint. She looked around but no cat mom was in sight so she tried asking neighbors, but no one had information about these little friends.

"They heard us and ran back off the property behind our fence and into some brush," Ariel shared.

Later, Ariel started leaving out food, hoping these little furballs would show up again. And they did! The food disappeared like magic, but the kittens stayed elusive.

"I never saw them eat but the food was always gone within half an hour." said Ariel.

Then, one day, the runt of the litter popped up, begging for food at Ariel’s backdoor, skittish as heck. "She was still quite skittish and ran back if you moved too quickly."

Then Ariel came up with the idea that she would set up a food station by the fence and meow to lure the kitten closer.  "I would meow and she would come slowly, sneaking under the fence to eat. She was alone now, and her siblings were nowhere to be seen."

And it actually worked! The once-wild kitty started relaxing, even peeking through the window to say, "Hey, I'm here!"

"Eventually, she trusted me enough to eat right from my hand and let me pet her," said Ariel.

Ariel's family quickly decided to adopt the kitten and named her Billy, not realizing she was a lady. Besides, to ensure Billy’s condition, the family brought Billy to the vet and had her health checked. She also got vaccinated and Billy quickly transformed from a wild outdoor explorer to a spoiled indoor kitty.

"We named our kitten Billy not knowing she was a young lady. I took her to the vet. She was a very healthy girl for being outdoors her whole life. We got her spayed, vaccinated and dewormed so she wouldn't be repeating the cycle around the neighborhood."

However, Billy didn't just find a home; she found herself in a lovely crew. She immediately bonded with Ariel's son, played with their rescued dog, and now, she has her daily routine of waiting for him at the door when he comes home from school.

"Despite their differences, they wait together for their human to walk home from school."
