A little stray kitten peeked through the station window, seeking help from the firefighters.
Luckily, the freezing kitty had stumbled upon a warm place to get the help she needed.
Then, the firefighters took matters into their own hands. They adopted her as their station mascot, giving her the name Ember.
After a health check at the vet, Ember was revealed to have slight frostbite on her ears but was otherwise healthy. She received her vaccinations, and she was later spayed.
"She had a bath and smells much better than when she showed up at our door," the fire department wrote.
Although Ember seemed like a great candidate for the fire department's station mascot, her rescuers believed she deserved more than what they could provide her.
The firefighters of the Steinbach Fire Department decided to seek the perfect forever home for Ember.
They issued a public announcement, Ember Alert," seeking a loving adopter for the kitten they rescued.
Despite their usual duty of battling blazes, these firefighters took on the responsibility of caring for Ember, ensuring her warmth not just for a night but, hopefully, for a lifetime.
Ember's story reminds us that every creature deserves to be loved and cared for for the rest of their lives.
