What Happened During This Interview?

John Cleese appeared on Good Morning Britain to discuss his new show, The Dinosaur Hour, which premiered on Sunday, October 29.
However, during the interview, Ed Balls, the former Labour MP, consistently talked over Cleese. Despite Cleese's efforts to remain patient and professional, he eventually had to ask Balls to "shut up."
The comedian said: "They made me, Ed, the best offer anyone has ever made in television. They came to me..." Balls made an interruption: "You're the only presenter joining them rather than leaving them at the moment." Cleese seemed not to have heard and asked: "What?"

Balls repeated himself and then Cleese replied: "Well they're clearing out a certain amount, which is not a bad idea, because they do believe in free speech..." Balls interrupted again: "Get the old wood out and the new blood in." Cleese said: "Will you shut up!"
There was some awkward laughter, and Reid commented: "Yeah, you asking a question and then talking over the answer I suppose."

Audience's Reactions To John’s Attitude

It seems like John’s action did not bother the audience. You can see some comments on the video above. A person wrote:
“I do love John! Comedy is the only thing that has the ability to make fun of & point out the most absurd & upsetting parts of life. The people who pick it apart & attempt to "cancel" comedians are imbeciles. As humans we desperately need to laugh during hard times, it's what gets us through. Certain types are far too pathetic about their precious little feelings these days & sadly seem to forget what comedy really is & how much we all need it!”
Even another defended him by saying: “Why do they keep interrupting him? Why do people want to hear me speak?”
Many views on his action but if you see the whole interview, you know they were friendly and nothing serious actually happened. After all, Legend John is a comedian, so he knows how to avoid a tense conversation.
