Disney CEO Confirms Frozen 4 Is Happening, And We’re All In For It

Earlier this year in October, Disney fans were already ecstatic as the House of Mouse announced Frozen 3 to be under development. The Frozen movies has been one of the most-anticipated animated franchises in the last decade, grossing nearly $3 billion worldwide. The magical adventure of the Elsa-Anna sisters throughout the icy kingdom of Arendelle always manages to amaze us.
And when the hype for Frozen 3 hasn’t even died down just yet, Disney CEO, Bob Iger, continues to spoil fans even more, as he recently announced that Frozen 4 is also in the making. And here’s what we know about the sequels, and what lies ahead on Anna and Elsa’s next journeys.

#1. “There Might Be A Frozen 4 In The Work,” Said Bob Iger

Even when Frozen 3’s release date isn’t out just yet, Bob Iger already teased us with a potential Frozen 4 in the future. Speaking with Good Morning America about the upcoming sequel, the CEO had this to say:
“Well I’ll give you a little surprise there, Michael. Frozen 3 is in the works, and there might be a Frozen 4 in the works, too. And I don’t have much to say about those films right now, but Jenn Lee, who created Frozen, the original Frozen, and Frozen 2 is hard at work with her team at Disney Animation on not one but actually two stories.”

#2. Why Frozen 3 And 4 Make Sense For The Audience

With the immense commercial and theatrical success of both Frozen and Frozen 2 ($1.2 billion and $1.45 billion worldwide, respectively), it doesn’t come as a surprise that a threequel is bound to follow. The ending of Frozen 2 (spoiler alert!), which sees Anna becoming the queen of Arendelle, and Elsa as the Enchanted Forest’s protector, also sets the events nicely for a possible third movie.
However, since information about Frozen 3 is still largely shrouded in mystery, it’s a bit shocking to see Bob Iger teasing Frozen 4 right away. Since we already had to wait 6 years for Frozen 2 to hit theaters back in 2019, then in the worst scenario, we’ll have to wait another decade for Frozen 4 to reach the audience.

#3. How Long Do We Have To Wait To See Frozen 4?

But, if Disney applies the same strategy as they did with Avatar: The Way of Water and Avatar 3, the release gap between Frozen 3 and 4 could be much smaller. If the two projects are both under development simultaneously, we might only have to wait 1-2 years after Frozen 3 to see Frozen 4 in theaters.
If Frozen 4 can actually come to fruition, the Frozen series could be the second-ever franchise in Disney’s history to have more than three titles, after Pixar’s Toy Story.

#4. How Frozen 2's Ending Can Set Up Its Sequels

As we mentioned above, Frozen 2 ends with Anna becoming the new queen of Arendelle, while Elsa gives up her royalty status to become the protector of the Enchanted Forest. The two still meet frequently, and in Frozen 3, they could rendezvous again at Anna and Kristoff’s wedding. The threequel could also see the attempts to reconnect Arendelle and Northuldra together from the sisters.
When do you think Frozen 3 and 4 are coming out? Will these two sequels repeat the same success as the first two movies? Let us know in the comments.
