Monster Season 2 Returns With New Killers - Release Date, Cast, Trailer & More

Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story has captivated Netflix viewers since its release, becoming one of the streaming service's most-watched shows. With over 900 million hours of viewing time, Dahmer climbed to fourth place on the all-time list of Netflix shows, trailing only Squid Game, Stranger Things season 4, and Wednesday.

The drama was originally intended to be a one-time limited series. However, following its phenomenal success, Netflix announced in November 2022 that it had renewed the series as an anthology. That means not only will fans get a second season of Monster, but a third installment is also in the works.

The Monster Season 2 release date has not been confirmed yet. According to the trailer released by Netflix, the story of Lyle and Erik Menendez will be presented at some point in 2024.

Considering that Monster Season 1 debuted on September 21, 2022, it's likely that Season 2 will follow a similar release schedule.

Since Monster was renewed for a second season, some fans have been confused because Jeffrey Dahmer was executed for his crimes in the final episode.

One fan on X (aka Twitter), asked: “What’s Dahmer season 2 going to be about if he died in season 1?”

Another user asked: "How is Netflix making a season 2 of Dahmer when they showed him getting killed in the first season?"

This fan bluntly questioned, "Why do we need a season 2 of Dahmer?"

The Monster Season 2 trailer on Netflix contains no images. On the other hand, it shows the date and location of the crime before beginning Lyle Menendez's real 911 call.

During the call, Lyle claims that his parents were shot and killed by someone. When asked what happened, he says he didn't hear anything and had just returned home.

Cooper Koch and Nicholas Alexander Chavez are set to play Lyle and Erik Menendez in Dahmer season 2. José and Kitty Menendez, their parents and victims, will also appear in the show.

For their trials, the Menendez brothers had two lawyers, the first of whom was Robert Shapiro, who was also crucial in the O.J. Simpson case. The troubled Leslie Abramson was the second. Lawyers Pamela Bozanich and David Conn prosecuted Lyle and Erik Menendez.

Other people who could be cast in the movie include cousins Andy Cano and Diane Vander Molen, who were key witnesses in the Erik and Lyle Menendez case. Erik's psychologist, Jerome Oziel, to whom he confessed the murder, as well as Jerome's mistress, Judalon Smyth, who played an important role in the case, should appear in the series.

In Monster Season 2, the infamous case of Erik and Lyle Menendez, who murdered their parents, Kitty and José Menendez, in their Beverly Hills home on August 20, 1989, is explored. Kitty was shot ten times, José six. The brothers initially claimed innocence, saying they had been out, but their lavish spending of $700,000 raised suspicions.

The story will definitely show how Erik confessed to his doctor, Dr. Jerome Oziel, who later revealed it to his mistress, Judalon. She eventually reported it to the police. Lyle Menendez was arrested on March 8, 1990, while Erik turned himself in three days later after returning from Israel. 

Fans are worried about the confusion when Jeffrey Dahmer was executed for his crimes in the final episode. However, there will be no confusion because The Monster Season is set to portray new serial killers.
