As Johnny Depp triumphed in the last trial between the two in 2022, Amber Heard’s life has been in the mud for a while now. After losing the case, the actress has been constantly under pressure and criticism from the public, and even had her role in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom cut short. From a prominent part in the first film, Amber Heard’s Mera has become an insignificant character in the sequel, with her screen time greatly reduced.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is officially the final DCEU title, and while it didn’t perform too well in the initial weeks, the film started doing better recently and is aiming to pass The Flash’s box office gross. As the DCEU comes to an end, Amber Heard finally breaks silence ever since the movie was released in theaters with a recent statement on Instagram.
#1. What Did Amber Heard Have To Say About Her Reduced Role In Aquaman 2?
Two weeks after Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom hit the box office worldwide, Amber Heard finally goes online to address her role in the movie. In the Instagram post she made recently, the actress thanked her fans and expressed her gratitude for the “overwhelming support and love” she received in Mera’s return to the movie.
Heard also shared three on-set photos of her filming, one included her newborn baby. The actress also made a witty pun in the caption, showing that she was in a good mood. Here’s what the Aquaman star had to say:
“After all this time, Aquaman 2 made its splash (sorry, it’s too easy). Thank you to all of my fans for the overwhelming support and love in Mera’s AQ return. Thank you so much.”
Besides the post, Amber Heard also shared two other videos that saw her training for the role of Mera on X. One video features her practicing close combat with a staff, and the other sees her taking on two of her stunt members during a rehearsal session.
#2. Amber Heard Wasn’t Very Happy With Her Screen Time Reduction
Heard’s filming for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom took place at the same time as her legal battle with Johnny Depp. The moment the latter was found innocent, many people around the world pressured Warner Bros. to drop Heard immediately.
Due to various reasons (one including Elon Musk’s infamous threat), the studio didn’t do so, and instead, they cut short Mera’s screen time than originally planned. Of course, Amber Heard wasn’t very fond of the decision, and even spoke about it during her defamation trials with Depp.

For now, you can catch both Amber Heard and Jason Momoa as Mera and Arthur respectively in theaters.
