Would Ellie Have Made A Cure And Saved The World?

Would Ellie have made a cure and saved the world? If and when Joel and Ellie get to Salt Lake City. Even though Ellie is still reeling from the events of last week's episode, the episode proved that their relationship was stronger than ever, especially from Joel's perspective. After all, the father, who has been emotionally distant from his "cargo" for the most of the show, has resorted to addressing Ellie by the nickname his late daughter used to refer to her.

A group of Fireflies who don't recognize them ambush the two, knocking Joel out cold. He comes to with Marlene at his side in a hospital room, where he is informed that Ellie is getting ready for surgery. She goes on to explain that a sample of Ellie's brain will be extracted in order to find a treatment for the cordyceps infection but that Ellie herself will perish in the procedure. Joel objects, but Marlene begs him to consider the bigger picture.
Now that he cared about Ellie deeply, he couldn't bear the thought of letting her down the way he had let down his own daughter. He loses it as he's being led out of the hospital, and he starts a killing spree in the direction of the OR, where Ellie will have her operation. In order to save Ellie on the operating table, Joel has to murder a surgeon who is charging at him with a knife. After dropping her off in the hospital's parking garage, he runs into Marlene, who makes one more plea for him to consider what Ellie would have chosen.

Ellie is loaded into a car while Joel shoots Marlene. After warning Marlene that she would only come for Ellie, he kills her despite her pleadings. Once the anesthetic wears off, Ellie and Joel get into a car and head for Wisconsin. He tells her a bogus tale about how the Fireflies have given up seeking for a cure after testing dozens of immune persons but learning nothing.
Upon reaching Jackson's outskirts, Ellie spills the beans to Joel about Riley and has him swear that he is speaking the truth. Even when he lets out a profanity, Ellie didn't immediately respond with "Alright."

Could Ellie Have Saved The World?

Would Ellie Have Made A Cure Could Ellie Have Saved The World?
The Last of Us has proven during its first season that people may find happiness in the post-apocalyptic world. Imagine Bill and Frank's peaceful community, the lonely Wyoming couple, or the Jackson area commune. Without treatment, they are able to live fulfilling lives. Even if the world would already be a better place if we didn't have to worry about Cordyceps, we could always do better if we had a cure for it.

People in the QZs may be able to escape the repressive rule of FEDRA and the crippling effects of the virus if this happens. Perhaps this is the path to a brighter tomorrow. If Ellie had any part in making that future a reality, Joel ruined it. There isn't a simple solution to this. You may appreciate Joel's perspective after playing The Last of Us, but you can't deny that he did a terrible act. The situation is awkward for us as well. Perhaps we should criticize Joel, but suppose it had been one of our loved ones on the operating table instead. Now what?

Does Ellie Forgive Joel?

In the game, Ellie is shown openly mocking Joel for refusing to accept that their relationship is dead, and this is implied to be their final encounter before Joel's death. From what we can tell, Ellie has never forgiven Joel for what he did in the previous game, which is why she is so driven to get even with Abby. She resents herself for not making up with the one father figure she's ever known until it is too late.
