Wonder Woman 3 Is Cancelled, Where Will DCEU Go From Here?

Warner Bros. has canceled the third Wonder Woman movie, probably on the directive of James Gunn, the new DCEU director. Before its abrupt end, the trilogy that was demoted to a duology had precisely one good moment and one terrible point. The abrupt cancellation of Wonder Woman 3 is an intriguing window into how the franchise's overall vision has evolved in a very short period of time. Many projects have either been more popular or less popular after James Gunn assumed the position of Kevin Feige for DC's endeavors on the big screen. The majority of the new projects have centered on minor characters, in keeping with Gunn's usual techniques. Bigger stars like Black Adam and Wonder Woman aren't taking advantage of the spotlight as much as they formerly did. The big three are presented here with the blundering assurance of a bad poker player. Success financially and criticism, in varying degrees, came next. Gunn's DCEU appears to be far less focused on using the main DC Comics characters.

The first Wonder Woman was a big financial triumph as well as a moderate critical success. It generated approximately the same amount of revenue as Batman v. Superman and produced it for at least $100 million less. However, the sequel completely missed the mark and left the brand in a bad way. Wonder Woman 1984 had far poorer reviews than its predecessor in addition to failing to do well at the box office. It's reasonable to suppose that one successful movie and one failure would lead to the cancellation of a third movie, but 1984's poor performance wasn't the sole factor in that decision.
DC appears to like using toys that nobody else has ever used. Bring forth lesser-known personalities and use their own merits to make them become massive icons. Gunn has often carried out this in his own work. Before Gunn got hold of Rocket Raccoon, nobody gave a damn about him. Before Gunn introduced Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad and gave him his own spin-off, no one had ever been aware of him.

It's possible that at some point in the future, the DC Extended Universe may revisit the original Justice League members. Perhaps this is simply a phase, and Gunn's DCEU is only attempting to mend what has been damaged. Even though Wonder Woman 3 won't be released, it would be insane to imagine that any of these characters would be left behind for very long. All of us will simply have to wait and watch how the DCEU develops moving forward.
