Kyle Jacobs, the songwriter husband of country music star Kellie Pickler, died a suicide at their Nashville home on Friday night, according to police. Cops said they received a 911 call at 1:21 pm from the house and found Jacobs, 49, with an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound in a locked bedroom. What has happened? What is his death cause?
Pickler, who parlayed a sixth-place finish on American Idol in 2010 into a country music recording career and a hosting gig on Sirius XM, married Jacobs in 2011. They were planning a big Music City wedding but ended up eloping to Antigua.
Their relationship was the basis of a reality TV show, I Love Kellie Pickler, which ran on CMT from 2015 to 2017. Two days ago, Jacobs posted a congratulatory message on Facebook about Lee Brice’s album going platinum, writing, “Deeply honored to be a creative part of it…Thank you Jesus!!!”
"Mr. Jacobs’ wife, Kellie Pickler, reported that she awoke a short time earlier, did not see her husband, and began looking for him. After she and her personal assistant were unable to open the door to the upstairs bedroom/office, the assistant telephoned 911," the statement concluded.
Cops say Kellie was asleep, but woke a short time before the incident, when she did not see Kyle, she began looking for him ... when she and an assistant were unable to open the upstairs bedroom door, they called 911.

A rep for The Nashville Police Department tells us they got a call to Pickler's home Friday afternoon for an apparent suicide after a male shot himself. It's not yet been revealed who the man is, but we know Pickler and her husband, Kyle Jacobs, live at the address.
Pickler placed 6th on Season 5 of "American Idol" back in 2006 ... but went on to have a fairly successful country career of her own. She currently hosts SiriusXM's "The Highway" radio show throughout the week.
