Matthew Mercer's Twitter revealed his new role as Ganondorf in Tears of the Kingdom. Mercer, who is most known as the dungeon master in the web series Critical Role and has voiced characters like Cole Cassidy in Overwatch, has said that he thinks playing Ganondorf is a huge honor and hopes he does the monster justice with his performance. Mercer, a lifetime fan, recently posted a series of images to Twitter documenting his involvement with The Legend of Zelda.

 

Mercer made his voice-acting debut as Ganondorf at the end of a Nintendo Direct broadcast in February. Although many Zelda fans are keen to point out the similarities between Ganondorf and Mercer's voices, the voice actor and Nintendo remained mute when asked about them. Mercer said he was given the green light to go public with his story two months later. Mercer thanked Nintendo for allowing him to play one of the most notorious villains in video game history.

Wed by Mercer On October 21, 2017, Marisha Ray, a voice actor and co-star in Critical Role, passed away.

In the web series Critical Role, which debuted on Geek & Sundry in 2015, Mercer plays the primary role of a voice actor who guides a group of fellow voice actors through a Dungeons & Dragons adventure.
