Where 'New Girl' Go After Netflix? Stream ‘New Girl’ Here In These Two New Streaming Platform
When New Girl was still in its first season almost 10 years ago, a wallowing Nick refused to leave a photo booth after seeing his ex Caroline at a wedding. “This is my home now,” he told Jess. “It’s got everything that I need!” Now, Netflix is losing yet another beloved comedy-New Girl to a competing streaming service. Why did New Girl leave Netflix? Where is New Girl streaming now?
Netflix got the show's streaming rights in 2013, but the licensing deal has since expired. New Girl, created by Liz Meriwether, originally aired on FOX for seven seasons starting in 2011. The series centers on quirky teacher Jessica Day (Zooey Deschanel) when she moves into a Los Angeles loft with three dudes, Nick Miller (Jake Johnson), Winston Bishop (Lamorne Morris) and Winston Schmidt (Max Greenfield).
New Girl aired on Fox from September 2011 to May 2018, and then it arrived on Netflix in mid-2013, per Variety. It went on to become such a Netflix staple that numerous fans can’t seem to imagine not having it available on the platform anymore. “The last day to watch New Girl on Netflix happens next month and I want to cry,” one wrote. Another (hopefully mostly jokingly) said that “life has lost all meaning” now that the show is leaving. Still another fan tweeted that they’re “bouta lose [their] sh*t.” Meanwhile, it’s time for “therapy as a replacement” for someone else.

Damon Wayans Jr. also starred in the pilot as original roommate Coach, and returned as a full-fledged cast member in Seasons 3 and 4. Megan Fox also had a significant recurring role as Reagan, who rented out Jess’ room during Deschanel’s Season 5 maternity leave, then returned as Nick’s girlfriend for a hefty stint in Season 6. Additionally, Nasim Pedrad recurred in later seasons as Winston’s LAPD partner-turned-wife Aly.
New Girl is the latest comfort show to depart Netflix following Friends (which moved to HBO Max), The Office (exclusive to Peacock) and Schitt’s Creek (now available on Hulu). Arrested Development, which was revived as a Netflix original in 2013, is also leaving the service in a matter of days.
