However, the planet's Mandalorian private security force is malfunctioning due to rogue battle droids that have been reprogrammed for civic duty. The Mandalorians and their allies investigate the malfunctioning droids, leading them to a droid bar, where they discover the source of the problem: nepenthe, a fluid that was used to patch the droids' programming, is contaminated with nano-droids.
The situation becomes more complicated when the owner of the bar reveals that the same batch of nepenthe was used by all the deviant droids. When Helgait, the person responsible for the contamination, threatens to turn all the droids back into hostile battle variants, he is exiled by the Dutchess and granted an audience with the Mandalorian privateers. This week's episode of The Mandalorian season 3 sees the Mandalorians, led by Bo-Katan Kryze, taking on a mission to help the Mon Calamari retrieve their prince. They are hired by the Mon Calamari to take down a group of Quarrens who have captured the prince. Meanwhile, Din Djarin and Grogu accompany Bo-Katan to meet Axe Wolves and convince his forces to join their covert. They arrive at Plazir-15 and are met by two Imperial droids, which leads them to question their presence. The three are taken to meet Captain Bombardier and his wife, the planet's Dutchess, who confide in them about a droid problem they're having. The battle droids have been causing chaos inside the city, and they ask for the Mandalorians' help in exchange for recognizing Mandalore as a sovereign system.
Din and Bo-Katan go to a lower level to talk to a group of Ugnaughts about the faulty droids. They discover that the droids on the planet are terrified about being replaced by humans. At the barkeeper's private quarters, Bo-Katan and Din discover all about Nepenthe, a rare sort of oil that can reprogram droids to perform a different purpose from the one they were initially infused with. The two go to examine the body of the super battle droid they destroyed and discover the existence of Nepenthe within it. The code also revealed that the person to blame for the faulty droids is none other than Commissioner Helgait himself.

The Dutchess exiles him for his acts, and Din and Bo-Katan are awarded with system keys for their efforts in solving the case. The Dutchess also bestows knighthood on Grogu. Bo-Katan then challenges Axe to a leadership battle, which Bo-Katan eventually wins. She tells the Mandalorians to present that they are stronger together, and when Din explains that the Darksaber properly belongs to her, the Mandalorians surrounding them embrace Bo-leadership of Katan's as she reactivates the Darksaber.
