The Boys Season 4 Release Date & Cast: All We Know Of The Next Homelander Season

The Boys Season 4 is expected to be released in the middle of 2024, once the current WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes are settled peacefully. However, no official date has been revealed just yet.

The series’ director, Eric Kripke, once tweeted that season 4 will only be released after the strikes end. However, until today, the situation doesn’t seem to get any better.

The upcoming season has wrapped up filming, but due to the strikes, the crew can’t do any reshoots. Luckily, fans still have the spinoff series Gen-V to watch while waiting for the big show.

As expected, the roster for The Boys Season 4 is star-studded, with fan-favorite performers such as Anthony Starr, Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, and Erin Moriarty reprising their iconic roles. Some new additions, like Valorie Curry and Susan Heyward, have been added to the team as well.

However, fans are disheartened to learn that Dominique McElligot isn’t included in Season 4’s cast. Portraying the villain-turn-anti-hero Queen Maeve, McElligot captures the audience’s hearts with her incredible acting and unrivaled beauty. 

At the end of Season 3, Maeve, having lost her power from fighting Soldier Boy, retires from the frontline and goes into hiding, starting a new life. Many people believe this is her last appearance in the franchise.

According to Kripke, the overall plot for Season 4 will focus on Billy Butcher and Homelander’s tug-of-war battle to claim the latter’s son, Ryan. At the end of Season 3, with newfound allies, The Boys regroup to defeat their ultimate enemies, the Seven, once and for all. 

The Supes now side with Victoria Neuman, who successfully landed the Vice President position thanks to some dirty tricks. The new alliance makes the villainous groups stronger than ever. The Boys, on the other hand, while gaining Starlight as a new member, now learn that Billy Butcher only has months left due to the Compound V’s effect on his body.

Currently, Homelander has his son Ryan on his side, who has the power and potential to be his father’s successor. Speaking to IGN, Kripke revealed that if Ryan continues to be under the Supe's influence, he will become the second Homelander. Therefore, a battle to reclaim the boy is necessary before he turns into a monstrosity just like his father.

How will The Boys take down Homelander and reclaim Ryan? Will Billy die in the new season? Will Gen V’s events have anything to do with The Boys Season 4? We’ll have to wait to find out.

For now, there is no official trailer for The Boys Season 4 just yet. The final trailer is usually published months before the official release. For now, you can watch the show’s teaser trailer, which was released on June 12, 2023.

The Boy Season 4 will be available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video upon its release. You can also find the rest of the franchise, including the spinoff series Gen V, on the streaming platform.

It appears that The Boys Season 4 consists of eight episodes, just like its predecessors. So far, there has been no official confirmation from either Amazon Prime or the film’s crew.

Moreover, Season 4 isn’t the franchise’s finale, as Eric Kripke already hinted at a possible Season 5 in an interview back in February 2023.

For now, The Boys Season 4’s release date is not yet confirmed, but we can expect the sequel to come out in the middle of 2024. There are a lot of questions waiting to be answered in the much-anticipated series: about Billy Butcher and Ryan’s fate, Queen Maeve’s well-being, and the final outcome of the everlasting struggle between The Boys and the Seven.
