These birds like to hover over the cool, damp tropical woodland, where they can find their favorite food in broadleaf trees or mixed vegetation. You may see them here and there all year round, from Nepal to southern China, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and Malaysia. That said, it’s not easy to locate them since they prefer high altitudes even in winter months.

In favorable habitats, these colorful buddies are widespread and often seen being together. However, the birds become more solitary in remote areas. Sadly, due to the gorgeous plumage, Silver-eared mesia becomes the victim of illegal hunting. These birds easily get caught when leaving their native habitat and are kept as pets in people’s houses.
