Match Preview

The rematch of the 2014 World Cup semifinal sees the Netherlands look to get revenge for their defeat as they face Lionel Messi and Argentina in the quarterfinals of this World Cup in Qatar. Argentina vs Netherlands Prediction is found here.
Messi scored his penalty in that 2014 shootout alongside three teammates, making his squad qualify for the 2014 final against Germany. Meanwhile, Ron Vlaar and Wesley Sneider missed the goals and later competed for third place.
While Messi fell short in that 2014 final to Germany, he'll have visions of grandeur at this World Cup tournament. It seems an epic journey, as he'll first have to get a Dutch side that's gone 19 games unbeaten across all competitions and 11 undefeated in the World Cup.
Louis van Gaal has announced that he will depart the Netherlands job at the end of their campaign. Also, the Netherland coach wants to prove that Angel Di Maria was wrong when he claimed that Louis van Gaal has been the worst coach in his life so far.

As far as Argentina are concerned, Sevilla forward Papu Gomez came off with a sprained ankle in the 50th minute against Australia and is a doubt for the contest, but Angel Di Maria informed good news of his recovery from a quadriceps issue and should be fit to replace his stricken teammate. Rodrigo De Paul is also ready despite a spot of muscular fatigue.
Scaloni has no injury concerns and continues to believe in the center-back pairing of Cristian Romero and Nicolas Otamendi, which should stay as it is despite constant pressure from Lisandro Martinez.
The likes of Angel Correa and Leandro Paredes exercised the full range of their abilities in a training ground XI earlier this week, but neither man will be predicted to edge out Di Maria or the impressive Enzo Fernandez for a start in the quarter-final.

The Netherlands were shortly handed a scare with Jeremie Frimpong (ankle) before the victory over the USA, but the Bayer Leverkusen right-back formed part of a fully-fit squad for that match, and Van Gaal should have everyone available for the quarter-final too.
Inter Milan center-back Stefan de Vrij could not train on Sunday because of discomfort, but he has since come back to the group to challenge the established order of Jurrien Timber, Virgil van Dijk, and Nathan Ake, although he will presumably be fighting a losing battle there.
Depay's performance against the USA made it 24 goals in his last 30 outings for the Netherlands - as well as 10 assists - and the Barcelona striker should once again partner up with Gakpo in an untouched Dutch XI.
