In the season finale, Della Street is skeptical about Camilla Nygaard being the culprit. When Paul and Clara arrive at the office with an envelope from Phipps, the realization finally hits Della. Her speculation is right. Camilla is not to be underestimated, and Della acknowledges this with a sense of dread.
Mason is more than ready to make a deal with Burger. Della is hesitant about outing her friend, but she knows he's the only one who can save the trial. She tells Perry and Paul that Burger has been blackmailed, and they use this information to persuade him.

Judge Durkin was considering a mistrial, but he has changed his mind. In the end, Mason is going to be sentenced to four months in county jail for concealing evidence. Mason also won't cross-examine the final witnesses in the trial. Della is amazed by Perry's dedication to the Gallardo boys' case, but he humbly downplays any praise. Mason is willing to do aything to pursue justice, even if it means putting up a facade to achieve it.

Perry, Della, and Paul arrive at Phipps' place with bad news for him. It turns out Ozzy Jackson is still alive. Ozzy is willing to testify in court that Phipps paid him to organize Brooks McCutcheon's hit. This makes Phipps break down. He eventually agrees to switch sides.

What Happened During The Final Case?

On the final day of the trial, Milligan presents the gun as evidence. He gives a closing statement that paints the Gallardo boys as lazy Mexicans who are resentful of the more fortunate. In contrast, Mason's closing remarks take a more philosophical turn. Mason questions the nature of justice itself. He points out that every juror has biases that influence their perception of the case. He wonders if true justice is just an illusion. All he asks is that the jury keeps this in mind when making their decision.

In the final showdown at the court, Phipps sneaks into Camilla's house and retrieves all the blackmail photos, including Burger's.  With the blackmail material in hand, the team finds some pictures of their own and presents the Burger photos to the D.A.'s office.
Although Burger is apprehensive at first, he's relieved to be free from the threat of blackmail. He doesn't really want to send the Gallardos to jail or to their death, but public opinion demands justice.

Mason and the legal team present a new deal to the Gallardo family: one brother would plead guilty with a 30-year sentence. Mateo, the one who pulled the trigger, takes responsibility for his actions and receives his sentence, while Rafa is free to go. This means that the real murderer remains at large. However, Mason sees it as a victory rather than a loss.

As Perry Mason heads to jail, the legal team wraps up the case and reflects on the nature of justice. Mason and Della discuss the illusion of justice, acknowledging the flaws in the system. Despite this, Mason is determined to fight for what's right.
Della pays a final visit to Camilla Nygaard. Not long after Della's appearance, the FBI arrive at Camilla's backyard. In the end, Perry takes a photo of himself and his son to prison as a reminder of the uncertain system he fought against.
