Is Celine Dion Still Alive? Fmous Singer's Death News Turns Out To Be B.S

First of all, one certain thing needs to be set straight right away: Celine Dion is NOT dead, she is still alive. Every source that claims otherwise is either misinformed, clickbait, or blatantly fake news.

The trend of "Celine Dion death" started to gain attention due to the singer's health issues. Dion had initiated her Courage World Tour in 2019, but in 2022, she began postponing various shows.

Finally, in May 2023, she made the tough decision to cancel the entire tour due to complications arising from stiff person syndrome, a rare neurological condition characterized by muscle spasms and rigidity.

Expressing her regret, Dion conveyed, "I’m so sorry to disappoint all of you once again. I’m working really hard to build back my strength, but touring can be very difficult even when you’re 100%."

She acknowledged that it wouldn't be fair to her fans to keep postponing shows and decided to cancel until she was fully prepared to return to the stage. Dion reassured her fans, saying, "I want you all to know, I’m not giving up… and I can’t wait to see you again!”

Following the tour cancellation, Dion withdrew from the public eye to prioritize her recovery. Her absence raised concerns among her fans and unfortunately contributed to her being targeted by a celebrity death hoax.

In July 2023, the phrase "Celine Dion death" began trending on TikTok as some users falsely claimed that she had passed away. Please, people, death hoax is easily the laziest type of fake news, come up with something more creative next time.

Not The First Time

This is not the first time someone claimed Celine Dion’s death. In 2019, multiple conspiracists fabricated a story involving her tragic doom in an accident.

At the time, the Canadian singer found herself at the center of a distressing hoax, falsely reported to have perished in a plane crash at the age of 51. The misleading information circulated on a website named world.cnntrendingnews.com.

This purported CNN website displayed an undated video, supposedly containing a report about the renowned singer's alleged demise. The preview thumbnail featured a static image of Dion alongside the dates "1968 – 2019."

Upon clicking the video, users were redirected to another website, worldnews.hytactv.info. Here, a caption at the bottom of the screen proclaimed: "Breaking news: Superstar and singing icon Celine Dion dead at 51."

In the video, one of the two supposed reporters somberly declared, "We have some terribly sad news to report this morning, heartbreaking, and devastating." However, the video abruptly halted, and a pop-up warning message insisted that viewers must share it first in order to access its full content.

It's important to emphasize that this was clickbait, and Celine Dion was not involved in any plane crash.

This claim emerged just days after Celine Dion's visit to Detroit, Michigan, on November 6, where she performed as part of her "Courage World Tour."

Car Crash Hoax

Another fake story emerged in 2013, prompting fans to once again worriily asked about her health.

This story began circulating and building steam on Facebook through an app that uses logos from well-known news outlets to entice users to click, according to 7News. One story said that Celine died in a car crash, while another claimed it was a plane crash.

And huge news like Celine’s death — no matter how fake — has a tendency to spread like wildfire on social media. The fake post stated, "Investigators have told reporters that Celine Dion lost control while driving a friend’s vehicle on Interstate 80 and rolled the vehicle several times, killing her instantly.

The vehicle was believed to have been traveling at approximately 95 miles per hour in a 55mph zone at the time of the accident."

Similar false death hoaxes have targeted other A-list celebrities in the past, including Justin Bieber, Eddie Murphy, Kanye West, Britney Spears, and Morgan Freeman. These hoaxes typically aim to generate sensational and untrue reports for their own purposes, leading to unwarranted panic and misinformation.

How Did Celine Dion React?

Celine Dion seems to not really care about the latest death hoax. However, she did reach out to fans and expressed her feelings once before, in the midst of the 2013 death hoax.

In an interview with Digital Spy, Dion recalled previous false death rumors, including one that claimed she had taken her own life. These rumors, she noted, make her "a little mad" because they require her to reassure her family of her well-being.

Dion mentioned that during a celebration of her twins' birthday in Montreal, she received phone calls informing her of death rumors circulating on Facebook. She expressed particular concern for her then-86-year-old mother, who becomes distressed if she doesn't receive immediate confirmation of Dion's safety.

Such incidents, Dion explained, compel her to "stay away from that side of things even more." However, she humorously added, "But I'm glad I'm not dead!"
