It gets dark in Iceland. But we don’t mean the day and night cycle here. We're talking about Icelandic humor. Obviously, Icelandic humor is often seen as darker than the rest of the world, and you can clearly see that from these super dark comics by Hugleikur Dagsson.
Dagsson is an Icelandic cartoonist, writer, and comedian who is pretty fond of dark humor. The artist has published around 20 books, including titles such as "I Hate Dolphins", "Where's God", and "My Pussy Is Hungry". The illustrations we've featured today are some of the best from his webcomic series. Reading his drawings, you will have a chance to visit a cold, bleak, expensive Iceland, as he said; his funny and twisted comics really showcase this.
The author also mixes all of his talents to make these crudely drawn comics that tackle the most controversial topics out there. Through his works, Dagsson has also proved that you don’t need a lot of detail or special drawing skills to tell a good story. The man creates quirky and minimalistic cartoons full of dark humor and surprising twists with his passion for drawing. He shared, "I have been “breathing air and making jokes” ever since he was born." It means everything related to making comics naturally comes to him. What a blessing in his life!
