When Kate announced at the end of the 10th episode of Season 1 that she no longer wanted to see Tully, we all felt a stab of pain. On several levels, I was taken aback. The world would be sadder if these two stunning beings weren't together. I prayed to Maggie Friedman, who answered my requests in Season 2. Certainly not, although she did offer some glimmer of hope in the first installment.
So in Part 1, we learn that Johnny survived the explosion that occurred in Season 1. Unfortunately, while his body is well, his mind has been severely scarred. Kate, his ex-wife, arrives to comfort him at a crucial time, flying to Germany with the assistance of Tully. Tully may be in a financial bind, but that doesn't stop her from buying a private plane with her own money.

Wilson King reportedly filed a lawsuit against Tully, and the latter is unable to afford Wilson King's legal fees at the moment. To her good fortune, a broker named Justin comes to her aid and provides her with a brilliant proposal. Remember that this lawsuit was filed in 2000 when the Internet was just getting started. The two create a documentary series chronicling Tully's search for her father with Justin's assistance. After a long search, Tully locates her father, but it is too late. But at least the dad knew his daughter's identity before he passed away, and Tully got to meet him.
While the women's issues (a lawsuit and a divorce) have been resolved, Tully and Kate are again confronted with a major challenge. Kate and Johnny ask Tully to watch their daughter Marah while they have a night out. Marah begs Tully to let her and her crush, Ashley, go to the movies despite being grounded. Tully is convinced that Marah is telling the truth, so she agrees despite Kate's misgivings.
But Ashley brings Marah to a frat party, where a boy starts harassing her. Thankfully, Marah finds refuge in a pantry and calls Tully for assistance. Tully comes to the rescue at the celebration, sparing Marah's life. A tense Tully is on the road to her home when an unforeseen accident causes their car to flip.

Firefly Lane Season 2 Recap
When Tully comes, Kate and Johnny dislike and shun her because of the risk she poses to Marah. As if that weren't enough, Tully's arrest for drunk driving makes national headlines again. That's enough to satisfy her, so she can go ahead and declare herself clear of all charges. However, without Kate, things aren't the same. Tully returns to her childhood house on Firefly Lane, decorates it, and gives it to her mother, Cloud.
Tully tries to make the most of her new existence without Kate by striking out alone. She takes up baking, continues her education with writing courses, befriends her ex-lover Danny, and ultimately decides against pursuing her passion. On the other hand, Kate is trying to raise her daughter and husband in peace after her father's death.
Kate doesn't want to broach the subject of endangering her family with Tully. Therefore, Kate tries to include another lady in her everyday life by making friends with her. She is shocked that her new "buddy" doesn't give a hoot. Soon after, Kate notices a quickly expanding rash on her breast. She decides to get it checked out and discovers that she has breast cancer, namely stage 3. Kate's world has come crashing down, and she understands she needs Tully.
