David Cornsweet's Superman: Everything About The Actor And The Movie

David Packard Cornsweet was born on July 8, 1993, and was raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. He’s currently 30 years old. Standing at a whopping 6’4”, the actor has the perfect look and build to portray the Man of Steel, just like Henry Cavill once did.

After graduating from the prestigious Juilliard School in 2016, Cornsweet began his acting career with numerous guest roles in television series, with the prime example being House of Cards (2018). After making a name for himself, he starred in lead roles in different Netflix shows such as The Politician (2019-2020) and Hollywood (2020). He also takes part in several theater Movies such as Look Both Ways and Pearl and has earned a solid fanbase.

Recently, David Cornsweet was chosen to play the next Superman in the upcoming DC Universe. He will make his DCU debut in the 2025 title Superman: Legacy as Clark Kent, alongside Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Isabela Moner as Hawkgirl, and more.

Other casting choices soon followed, with Nathan Fillion, Isabela Moner, Anthony Carrigan, and Edi Gathegi joining the roster.

With a star-studded cast, Superman: Legacy is expected to kickstart a successful beginning for the rebooted DC Universe, after the box office failure of the recent DCEU entries such as The Flash, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and Blue Beetle.

David Cornsweet Has A Destiny To Fulfill

David Cornsweet’s casting makes him the fourth official Superman on the big screen, after Christopher Reeve, Brandon Routh, and Henry Cavill. Hopes are high for the actor, since he already has the look and the perfect body to play the iconic Man of Steel.

Prior to Cornsweet, Henry Cavill was the latest movie Superman. While his movies received mixed reviews, Cavill is still a fan-favorite cast thanks to his look and build which bear many similarities to the comic Clark Kent, and his performance was highly appreciated by both fans and critics.

After making his DCEU debut in Man of Steel (2013), Henry Cavill continues appearing in three other DCEU movies, along with multiple cameo roles. The actor expressed his desire to keep playing Superman in future DC projects, before James Gunn took over and decided to change the entire roster for the team.

Needless to say, James Gunn’s shocking casting choices caused a huge uproar inside the DC fandom at the time. The audience loves Henry Cavill as Superman, so it’d take some time to digest the fact that he has been replaced by Cornsweet.

However, fans remain optimistic about James Gunn’s casting choice for the iconic role, as they also believe Cornsweet has what it takes to portray the Man of Steel. Reddit users believe that with a bit more muscle, Cornsweet will be the most comic-accurate Superman to have ever graced the theaters.

Likewise, the casting of Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane is also very welcomed by DC fans, thanks to the actress’s stellar performance in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Superman: Legacy is projected to hit theaters on July 11, 2025, so we’ll have to wait a while to see how David Cornsweet and Rachel Brosnahan perform on the big screen.
