Monday afternoon, White gave an interview to TMZ in which he verified that he was the guy shown in the video and that the lady seen with him is his wife. According to White, the event transpired on December 31 at Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
"On New Year's Eve, my wife and I celebrated with family while we were in Cabo, Mexico, where we spent the holidays with our family. Unfortunately, that is when the incident occurred. You've probably heard me say this for years: "I'm just one of the guys." There is never, ever, under any circumstances, a justification for a man to place his hands on a woman. And now here I am, talking about it on the TMZ website."

White said that alcohol may have had a role in the incident and told TMZ, "I don't remember a lot." White said, "There was a lot of booze, but there's no explanation for what happened." "I'm not trying to find any way to justify this event in any way. It has never occurred in the past. Because this is the very first time something like this has occurred, people will react in whatever they normally would. What it is cannot be changed. And whatever it is that others say about you, you deserve it. I deserve it. It came to pass.
"I have no idea what caused that to take place. My wife and I have both expressed our remorse to one another. We have expressed our sincere regret to our children. According to TMZ's report, the website also contacted White's wife, Anne White, who offered a statement.

TMZ reportedly cited Anne stating, "Dana and I have been married for almost 30 years." It's an understatement to say this is unlike him because nothing even vaguely like this has ever happened. Due to our mutual binge drinking on New Year's Eve, things swiftly escalated beyond our control.
"We have resolved our differences and apologized to one another after discussing this matter as a family. For the sake of our children, I hope that people would respect our family's privacy." White has led the UFC as president since 2001 and is widely credited with making MMA a popular sport.
