Japanese dub watchers and rejoice, as some of their favorite seiyuu (Japanese voice actors) will return to voice the iconic characters of the franchise. This means, Shoya Chiba, who’s known for his role in Ya Boy Kongming! and Blue Orchestra, will reprise his role as the protagonist Kiyotaka Ayanokoji.

The same can be said for the rest, including Ayana Takesatsu (Kei Karuizawa), Akari Kito (Suzune Horikita), Eji Takeuchi (Ken Sudo), and Yurika Kubo (Kikyo Kushida).

The English dub squad is also expected to stay the same, with popular names such as Justin Brinner (Izuku Midoriya in My Hero Academia), Brynn Apprill (Kobeni in Chainsaw Man), Felecia Angelle (Arte), and Sarah Wiedenheft (Tohru from Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid).

The events of the anime take place primarily in the Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School, a government-run academy to educate the cream of the crops. Kiyotaka Ayanokoji, an extremely smart and multi-talented teenager, disguises himself as an average student and deliberately joins Class D, the worst class in the school to drag them from the bottom to the very top.

While having a mind of a genius, Ayanokoji seemingly lacks empathy and compassion. To achieve his goals, he would do anything and use anyone, even his classmates. He often refers to his friends and allies as “tools” to help him get what he wants.

At the end of Season 2, Ayanokoji single-handedly resolves the conflicts between him and Class C’s leader Kakeru Ryuuen by effortlessly defeating him in a fistfight. He also allies himself with Class B’s Honami Ichinose in the process, thus one step closer to his goals.

Season 2 also teases us a blooming romance between the protagonist and Kei Karuizawa, whom he used as a pawn earlier. Season 3 could focus more on their relationship, as fans all want to see how Ayanokoji can develop his character, now that he has found his love interest.

The anime will also introduce the next arc for Class D, which is the events of the Mixed Training Camps. In this event, the students must separate themselves into groups and try to earn points so that they won’t get expelled. This is also one of the final sequences in the First Year Arc of the light novel series.
