In this episode, Vivian and Phil are strategizing their next move as they know that Will won't be able to play basketball if Doc is caught.
Will skips school and plays on the courts but gets into an argument that almost turns violent. Jazz intervenes to help him, but Will's pride gets in the way, and he tells Jazz to leave him alone. As he continues to struggle, Will reaches out to his mom, admitting that he may need his father's help.
Will seeks clarity from his mom before enlisting his teammates to speak with Phil about their positive experiences with Doc. They highlight the instances where Doc had helped them or their families and convince Phil not to give up on him. Phil and Doc then meet with Lorenzo, but things quickly turn tense. Luckily, Geoffrey enters the room just in time to resolve the situation, and Phil ultimately signs the papers.

Meanwhile, Phil changes his plans with Erika by creating a smaller firm that will host clients farmed from the larger corporation. Although Erika isn't thrilled about it, Phil assures her that it's a bigger-picture idea and he'll do what she needs. After setting up his new office, Erika embraces Phil with a hug and a kiss, but Geoffrey warns him that the situation may be too much to control. Nevertheless, Phil is confident in his ability to handle Erika. He continues playing the game.
Janice visits Vivian to discuss an art gallery that will showcase Vivian's paintings. However, things become tense when Janice reveals that she knows Vivian wants the job. Janice also emphasizes that she doesn't think Vivian will ever be able to make it happen.
Later on, Vivian speaks with Janice about her concerns and explains that someone will eventually take over her position, regardless of their race or background. She suggests letting her be the one to take over and fix any issues, instead of viewing her as a threat.
Carlton is trying to make amends and move forward, but Drew reminds him that he will always be seen as a bad guy. Will attempts to convince Carlton not to get involved in any more trouble, but Carlton dismisses his advice.

Drew confesses to Lisa that he was the one who leaked the video, claiming that she can't be with anyone else until she's over Will. On the other hand, Lemarcus and Hilary share a dinner where he suggests that they take a trip to Paris to reconnect and find their way back to one another.
Jazz approaches Will at the Founders Award gathering to discuss Hilary's upcoming trip to Paris with Lemarcus. Will hints that Jazz still has a chance to reconcile with Hilary, leaving the door open for a potential reunion.
Later on, Jazz takes a risk and lays his feelings on the line to Hilary, asking if she is willing to take a chance on him. Contradicting to Jazz's expectation, Hilary responds with uncertainty, saying "I don't know." The conversation leaves their relationship status up in the air, providing a cliffhanger for viewers to anticipate what will happen next.
Carlton attends the Founders Award gathering and goes to his locker to take a bump of cocaine. Ashley catches him in the act and questions what he's doing. Initially, Carlton tries to pass it off as Xanax, but Ashley doesn't believe him.

When Carlton insists that they need to return to the event, Ashley confronts him about his drug use, saying that she can't let it slide. In response, Carlton becomes aggressive and grabs her arm, telling her not to say anything. The scene ends with Ashley clearly uncomfortable and uncertain about how to handle the situation.
Carlton wins the Founders Award, but he surprises everyone by delivering an apology speech. He thinks that he doesn't deserve to be seen as a hero due to his drug addiction. He admits that he is not worthy of the award.
Upon returning home, Phil confronts Carlton about his behavior. In response, Carlton says that he knows he's not the son that Phil has always wanted. Phil expresses his exhaustion and walks away. Meanwhile, Vivian and Phil are shocked that they missed the signs of Carlton's struggles. Finally, the episode ends with Phil texting Erika, agreeing to go out for dinner with her.
