“Hollywood Is Not A Healthy Place”: Angelina Jolie Is Planning To Leave L.A.

Angelina Jolie recently shared her thoughts on the current state of Hollywood, expressing that she wouldn't choose to be an actress if she were starting her career today. “I wouldn’t be an actress today,” Jolie told WSJ. Magazine and added that she might opt for theater over Hollywood in the present era. 
“When I was starting out, it wasn’t as much of an expectation to be as public, to share so much.” She continued, “Because I grew up around Hollywood, I was never very impressed with it. I never bought into it as significant or important.” Growing up in Hollywood, Jolie remained unimpressed and never perceived it as a significant or vital aspect of her life.

Jolie also revealed that she is planning on leaving L.A. at some point and relocating to her home in Cambodia, explaining, “It’s part of what happened after my divorce. I lost the ability to live and travel as freely. I will move when I can. I grew up in quite a shallow place. Of all the places in the world, Hollywood is not a healthy place. So you seek authenticity.”

The Oscar-winning star claims that she is now not in any romantic relationship and doesn’t really have a social life, saying that her “closest friends are refugees.” Jolie also touched on the strong bond she shares with her children, adding, “They are the closest people to me and my life, and they’re my close friends,” she says. “We’re seven very different people, which is our strength.”
Beyond her work on the Maria Callas biopic, Jolie is venturing into the fashion world with Atelier Jolie and establishing a physical presence in NYC.
