On February 28th, Disney released the official trailer for their latest live-action adaption “Peter Pan & Wendy". Since then, Yara has participated in various movie and television projects, such as "The First Family", "Wizards of Waverly Place", "Rip City", etc. She is usually known for her role as the oldest daughter Zoey Johnson in the famous sitcom "Black-ish" and its spin-off "Grown-ish".

In July 2020, Yara Shahidi announced the launching of 7th Sun Productions, a production company that she established with her mother. The company has also signed a deal with ABC Studios. According to Deadline, Yara and her mother is in charge of creating "scripted" and "alternative" television program for ABC Studios.
