Suzanne Somers’ death has left a profound impact, sending shockwaves through the hearts of many. In the 1970s, she rose to fame with her role as Chrissy Snow in the beloved television series “Three's Company.” Somers was far more than an actress.
She was a dedicated advocate for natural health and alternative medicine and her contribution was undeniable. That's why she had a special place in everyone's heart. Today, we take a moment to reflect on the day just before her unexpected passing and the touching reactions from Hollywood.
Suzanne Somers' Death
Suzanne Somers, who had bravely battled cancer for decades, sadly passed away on the morning of October 15, just a day before what would have been her 77th birthday. Her longtime publicist, R. Couri Hay, confirmed this sad news, revealing that she was surrounded by her loved ones, including her husband, Alan, her son Bruce, and immediate family members at the time of her passing.
Despite a recent resurgence of her cancer diagnosis in July, her husband, Alan Hamel, shared that mere days before her passing, she appeared to be improving. After a six-week period of treatment with specialists in Chicago, she was eating and adhering to her medical regimen. However, upon their return home, the situation took a sudden and unfortunate turn.
Suzanne Somers In Final Days
Speaking with NBC News on Monday, Suzanne Somers' devoted husband, Alan Hamel, shared that he felt the inevitable arrival of her final moments in the days preceding her passing.
“We were in bed together and her breathing was erratic, and I had been talking to her for hours," Hamel shared. "There was no response except when I kissed her, she responded, and then around 5 o’clock in the morning, she was gone."
“All of a sudden she wasn’t responding and she wasn’t eating and she wasn’t taking her meds,” he said tearfully. “As I know her so well I thought, ‘I wonder if I should call 911?’ And I knew that she wouldn’t want that and that she did not want to go to a hospital.”
Hamel was always by her side in the last days.
“I talked to her for hours, every night, and I assumed she could hear me because her lips responded. Hopefully, she understood what I was saying.” Adding, “I’m just kind of shuffling along right now. Fortunately, we have a great family and they were all here.”
