All About Ali Wong's Ex-Husband: Meet Justin Hakuta 

Despite their divorce in April 2022, Ali Wong and her ex-husband Justin Hakuta are still good friends. The couple first met at a friend's wedding reception in 2010 and soon after, tied the knot in San Francisco on Nov. 27, 2014. They had two daughters, Mari in 2015 and Nikki in 2017. In March 2023, Wong spoke about how wonderful it is to take her two daughters, Mari (born in 2015) and Nikki (born in 2017), along with her on the comedy tours. She referred to it as a "beautiful" experience, saying that it's the opposite of working on films and television, where she is away all day. She went on to say that it's a great family adventure, where she performs at night and then during the day they explore museums, gardens, and visit friends. Justin Hakuta graduated from Carnegie Mellon in 2004 with a degree in decision science and a minor in Spanish. After obtaining his degree, he was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to support his research project studying NGOs Combating Human Trafficking in the Philippines. Baruch Fischhoff, the Howard Heinz University Professor of Social and Decision Sciences and Engineering and Public Policy, stated, "Justin was an early student in our major and he impacted the program with his strong work and leadership. He has an enthusiasm for life and justice."
In addition to being a graduate of the prestigious Carnegie Mellon University, Hakuta received his MBA from Harvard Business School in 2011, around the same time he first met Wong. "The first thing I learned about him was that, at the time, he was attending Harvard Business School," Wong previously said during one of her standup comedy specials. "And I was like, 'Oh my God, I'm going to trap his ass."

Hakuta is the son of famous TV inventor Ken Hakuta a.k.a. Dr. Fad, a Japanese-American inventor who developed a 1980s-era toy called the Wacky Wall Walker, and also hosted kids' invention program The Dr. Fad Show from 1988 to 1994.

Almost a year after her divorce from Hakuta, Wong spoke to THR about their relationship, noting that they are still very close. "We're best friends," said. "We've been through so much together. It's a very unconventional divorce." She added that her ex will also be traveling with her and her daughters for her comedy tour over the summer as she delivers new jokes about her life after divorce.
"I'm still workshopping it, but the bones are there and it came to me very fast," Wong said of the upcoming comedy special. "This is the first hour I'm doing since I started where I'm single. I think we're going to call it the Single Lady tour."

Ali Wong and her estranged husband Justin Hakuta seemed to get cozy over the weekend, spending time together two California cities Saturday.  The couple, who announced they were divorcing in April 2022, were first spotted going for a morning walk together in San Francisco. 
Ali, 40,  who briefly dated fellow comedian Bill Hader, looked low-key in a blue puffy jacket, a two-toned blue sweater, blue scarf and and red joggers.
