10 Good Movie Characters Who Are At Times More Revolting Than We Thought

It’s hard to think that a protagonist can actually be worse than the antagonist in a movie, right? However, the unfortunate truth is that sometimes the protagonist isn't obviously good as we think

Just like in literature, in movies, people always value the good qualities of characters. And sometimes they love these "good guys" so much that they try to find reasons when their favorite characters do something bad. Take Harry Potter as an example. We always love this wizard because of his humility, bravery, and selflessness. But he also has many bad habits, such as often losing his temper and taking out his anger on others, even on his friends. And people said that this bad trait is because he’s being hunted by an evil wizard. Is this a legitimate reason? Revolting movie characters might be found in this post.

Therefore, we decided to evaluate good movie characters impartially to answer the question: "Is it too easy for us to believe those reasons and ignore the bad behaviors of these “good” characters?" The characters in the movie are sometimes rebellious.

#1 Harry Potter from the "Harry Potter" film series

Although Harry has always been admired for his humility, bravery, and selflessness, he has a lot of bad personality.

Firstly, Harry often gets angry and takes it out on others, even his friends. Think about how irritable he was when finding Horcruxes. Harry lashed out at Hermione and had a fight with Ron. Finally, he became resentful and left them. We may attribute this to the Horcrux locket but all 3 wore it. But Hermione didn’t behave like that, and Ron returned despite his outburst.

Secondly, Harry is also very cocky. For example, in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire", he left his friends when celebrating his triumph. And once, when talking to Hermione, Harry claims to be the chosen one, at which point his friend gives him a well-deserved slap on the head.

Thirdly, he doesn't give a damn about his pals' issues. He doesn't consider Ron’s feelings, while Ron is forced to live in the shadow of his "selected" friend. He doesn't care about the relationship between Ron and Hermione. It's like Harry's friends exist solely for the purpose of rescuing him from his escapes.

Finally, Harry is self-assured. He always wants to fight evil alone and, for many years, he hasn’t learned to accept help from his friends.

#2 Cady Heron from "Mean Girls"

People said that the antagonist of the movie is Regina but Cady, the quiet one, turns out to be much worse. The more often she goes to school, the more chaos appears. First, she follows the lead of Janis and Damian and agrees to help carry out a plot to damage the reputation of "Plastics" in order to please her new friends. Then, since she crushes Aaron, Cady completely neglects her studies and gets bad marks although she has always been a brilliant student in algebra.

Trying to blend in with the “Plastics,” Cady forgets about Janis and Damien and doesn't even invite them to the party. Eventually, Cady changes her ways but her behavior is destabilizing and leads us to believe she will do something even worse. This is especially emphasized by the fact that Cady compares the group's relationships with the animal world's cruel laws. Finally, she even suggests that the new "Plastics" may soon be a problem for the school.

#3 Shaggy and Scooby-Doo from "Scooby-Doo"

These two are not like heroes who protect the world from evildoers. They are cowards and instead of supporting their friends, they run away from danger. Additionally, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo always ruin the team’s plans at the most crucial moment, risking everyone’s lives. For example, during the fight with the Luna Ghost, who grabbed Daphne. Shaggy and Scooby-Doo just fled after failing to carry out their part of the plan, preventing Velma and Fred from following the correct procedure. And as usual, something unintentionally saved the day and enabled them to catch the ghost.

After all, they don’t even apologize for their actions. Additionally, all of their actions are accompanied by silly humor and laughter. They just like to have fun, eat delicious food, and do nothing.

#4 Alice Cullen from the "Twilight" film series

Alice is kind and positive at first glance, but she actually has a finger in every pie. It’s not easy for Bella to get along with her new friends, but Alice, who is trying to be nice to Bella, doesn't appear to notice this.

In addition, Alice always imposes her decisions on everyone, and they are sometimes controversial and even dangerous. Despite the fact that Jasper attacked Bella, she invites people to a party at the vampire house. And even as Edward tries to stop his assertive sister, she honestly doesn't see any wrongdoing.

#5 Jacob Black from the "Twilight" film series

Although some moviegoers feel that Bella is more suited to a werewolf than a vampire, his behavior often suggests otherwise. Sometimes it appears as though his love for Bella is an unhealthy interest. Basically, Jacob stalks Bella to force her to declare him as her lover. In the second and third films, he constantly tells her that he is better than Edward, while simultaneously disparaging him behind his back.

Jacob’s friendship with Bella is based on selfish motives. Jacob acts as a despot and a master manipulator. He accuses Bella of allegedly taking advantage of his help, is offended that she can’t love him, keeps her from seeing Edward in Italy, and forcibly kisses her. While Edward always respects Bella for her own decisions, Jacob is stubborn and self-centered.

#6 Mary Jane Watson from the "Spider-Man" trilogy

Mary Jane is a classic example of a "damsel in distress" who always needs saving. She is always in trouble and is constantly expecting a superhero to save her. Moreover, she used to be a spoilt actress who always wanted Peter's respect for her talent. Remember how Mary Jane would be angry if Peter missed her performance and would not even inquire as to his reasons. But at the end of the trilogy, Mary Jane is no longer weak-willed and even gives Peter Parker a hand in the fight against Venom by throwing a concrete block over his head.

#7 Ralph de Bricassart from "The Thorn Birds"

The young charismatic priest with a perfect appearance and mysterious and incomprehensible soul has melted the hearts of millions of women, including Meggie.

However, he is a cynical careerist hiding under the guise of a guardian of spiritual values. After all, Ralph has spent his whole life pursuing ever-higher positions rather than unselfish devotion. Perhaps there's nothing wrong with having lofty goals. But Ralph considers satisfying his material and spiritual desires so much that he doesn't care that he's breaking Meggie's heart. Ralph turns out to be a weak-willed and callous egoist who just wants to keep his foot in both worlds.

#8 Kate from "Last Christmas"

Kate is introverted and insecure and she has a severe heart condition. This can't be an excuse for her to behave in such a careless and reckless manner, though.

She was used to receiving attention from everyone, even when a difficult situation occurred. She wants to get rid of her guardians, but she doesn't know how to live as an adult. Kate is not trying to establish her personal life or get a normal job. She quarrels with her mother and sister and behaves like a child, constantly whining and blaming others for her problems instead of taking responsibility for them.

#9 Peeta Mellark from "The Hunger Games" film series

Peeta is a sensitive, even vulnerable man. Despite his love, Peeta always tries to manipulate Katniss's feelings. He always tells her that he loves her. Then, he lies, saying that they are married and that Katniss is pregnant, forcing her to play along.

Due to his gentleness, Peeta stubbornly wants to appear selfless. He volunteered to play games alone when he wasn't required to. But he was constantly in trouble and let Katniss save him again. Throughout the movie, he's completely a burden to everyone, especially Katniss.

#10 The White Queen from "Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass"

When it comes to the White Queen, we always think of her elegant white dresses and her politeness to everyone around. But this image of her is deceiving. Mirana and her sister are really good people. She has the same ambition for power as the Red Queen, but her motivations are concealed behind a cute smile. Mirana doesn't want to mess with Iracebeth and gets ready to fight with her own sister for the throne.

Even if the White Queen wants to save the world from a cruel ruler, it’s still unclear why she can’t talk to her sister and peacefully sort out the reason for their quarrel. Mirana chooses to act passively instead of taking responsibility for the conflict. When they were children, Iracebeth ran away after Mirana slandered her in front of their parents. Then, she stumbled and hit her head so hard that it remained swollen forever.
