15+ Redditors Take OP's Side As He Is Blamed For Paying For His Dog's Surgery, Not His Mom's

Parents and children often strong a very strong bond as close-knit family members. Parents love their kids and are willing to do everything for their benefit. Becoming a parent comes with responsibilities, too. Parents who give birth to a child need to guarantee they care for and bring it up until adulthood. In return, children have to respect and obey their parents.
Parental love is something so wonderful that they aren't hesitant to provide help for their children even after they fully grow up. However, the case of Redditor @ElkBig9945 is a different story. His parents stopped supporting him right after he turned 18. They thought it was the time he became completely independent and responsible for his own life.
Forced to pay all the rent and other costs while living in his parents' house, OP (original poster) ended up moving out and living in his college dorm.
One day, they called OP telling him about his mom's cancer and asking if he could assist them with hospital bills. OP earned money, paid for his life, and made savings at the same time, so he couldn't afford such a big amount of money. His parents knew that and they got a loan instead.
However, things didn't stop here. When they realized OP spent his savings on his dog's urgent surgery, they were pissed off. OP started being blamed by his parents and other family members for putting an animal's life over his own mother. Read the full post here.

It is stated in US law that citizens over 18 have to be prosecuted for civil acts. They are the only ones responsible for their behaviors, and their lives. However, most parents keep supporting their children until they are over 22 (after they graduate from college and start a job). OP's parents, on the other hand, stopped helping him when he was just a high school student. Reddit users believed that they shouldn't have treated their child that way.
