Swimmer Stranded In Chilly Sea For 12 Hours Is Finally Found After Dolphins Surrounds Him To Alert Rescuers

Dolphins are clever, and they can sense whether other creatures are in pain or need help. We've been hearing about dolphins protecting humans from dangers and taking them back to safe land, and this particular case further proves that dolphins deserve all of our love and care.
A pod of helpful dolphins saved the life of a lost swimmer by alerting the rescuers at Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) on August 22, according to BBC. The man, who refused to reveal his name, told the rescuers that he'd been trying to swim out to Mucklaghmore Rock, located 5 miles from County Londonderry shore where his clothes were first discovered.

When he was found, the man had been spending 12 hours on the chilly ocean wearing only a swimsuit. Rescuers said that he was "hypothermic and exhausted", but very grateful for the dolphins.
The dolphins surrounded making a clear sign so that volunteers at RNLI who joined the search could notice the man and rescue him to their boat.

"At 20:30, the volunteer lifeboat crew with Fenit RNLI spotted a pod of dolphins and a head above the water about two-and-a-half miles off Castlegregory beach," the RNLI said. "The casualty was conscious and immediately recovered onto the lifeboat and brought to Fenit Harbour to be taken to hospital."
The swimmer was soon taken to University Hospital Kerry, where he was nursed back to health. The animals swimming around him were later claimed to be bottlenose dolphins, a species that has only been spotted on the Irish coast since 2019, according to the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group.

Rescuers agreed that the man was so lucky to escape such a dangerous situation. He is now in safety thanks to the dolphins and RNLI's help.
Finbarr O’Connell, the RNLI coxswain, told the media: “There were a lot of dolphins about when we noticed him. “Perhaps they assisted him in some way: who knows?! This was, nonetheless, a fortunate guy.”
