Police Horse Hit By Truck Was Reaching An End Of Her Life, But Officer Refused To Leave Her Alone
Charlotte has been working with officers at Houston Police Department for four years and got a best friend, D. Herrejon. She was a dedicated colleague who never minded joining any mission of the team, but on December 3, a horrible accident happened to the poor six-year-old girl.
Spooked by traffic and hit by a truck while she was patrolling the city with her human friend, the horse suffered a fatal injury on her legs. In the final moment of her life, she was not alone. Officer Herrejon, who was shocked and fell off her back, refused to leave the dying horse.
"It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Charlotte, an HPD Mounted Patrol horse, who died in the line of duty this morning in a motor vehicle accident. She thrived in HPD Mounted Patrol's barefoot and natural horsemanship programs."
"She passed her evaluation period with flying colors and was working the streets of Downtown Houston within a short time of being started under saddle."
We are looking forward to hearing further news from the police. RIP, Charlotte! We are sure her human colleagues will never forget her.
