Since its release, “Blobby and Friends” has won the hearts of many audiences, with 514k followers on social media.
The main character in the comic is "Blobby", who looks a bit weird but is really cool on the inside. This little creature is trustworthy, and supportive, and refuses to tolerate BS. Zack, a member of the team behind “Blobby and Friends” describes Blobby as "the magical best friend you always wished you had." Through the fictional character, the artists want to expose the harsh reality of racism, homelessness, and discrimination in order to protect justice for everyone. Moreover, the comics also portray wholesome everyday moments that make people believe in beautiful and good things in life.
Zack also adds that many online comics stay away from difficult topics. "A little pun here, a corny line there, and that's it. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with this concept. There's certainly an audience for it. I just mean that Blobby and Friends stands out from its competitors [...] As the account grew, we realized we had an opportunity to use Blobby to speak up about more serious topics."
